The Road to Chandler Rotary

It’s hard to believe we are eight weeks out from one of the oldest and largest Track Invitational’s in the southwest.  We will try to feature a different facet of The Chandler Rotary as we get closer to the meet.

This week we feature the new teams attending, bringing either individuals or a full team.

From Arizona, Snowflake High School - a team that is always a force at the Arizona State Division 3 level -  will make their first appearance at Chandler Rotary.  Several other team from Arizona will be returning back to Austin Field are Cesar Chavez, Ironwood, Mountain Ridge and Westview.  Each team has a long tradition in track and field.  Chavez’s athletes are strong in sprint and jumps, while Mountain Ridge tends to lead the way in thrower and distance runners.  Westview and Ironwood have some of the best field event athletes in the state

From California, Long Beach Poly  returns with probably their strongest team in years.  Other southern California teams making their first trek to Arizona will include:  Eleanor Roosevelt (hurdlers and sprinters), Bishop Amat (Distance runners), Monrovia (sprinters), California HS (Distance Runners).

We welcome back from Colorado -  ThundeRridge, Mullen and Regis Jesuit.  Also from Colorado will be individual athletes from Summit and Air Academy.

The Nevada defending state champions, Centennial from Las Vegas, will return to the Chandler Rotary meet for the first time since the mid 1990s. Also signed on from the Las Vegas area is The Meadows.

We also welcome back Del Valle and Burgess from Texas;  Vallivue from Idaho; Bolingbrook from Illinois, and Jeryah Davis from Kelly Walsh High School, Wyoming.

Next week we will feature returning champions.
