When did you first get involved with track and field?  How long have you been running:

I first got involved in track when I was 7 years old. I started running for the Arizona Rising Suns and continued with track ever since.

What is a typical training week like for you?

Mondays are typically the hardest of the days, getting the week started with more of a mid distance workout. Tuesdays are more of a recovery day and Wednesday's are

continuous 200m kind of day. Thursdays are the field event days for the heptathlon and Fridays are speed and tempo workouts. Saturdays and Sundays I enjoy going on long hikes with my family.

What are your goals for the upcoming track season?

My goals for this track season are to of course PR in all of my events and win state again, but to do it with confidence. I tend to think "cup half empty" when it comes to running and I would like to change that. Being more confident in myself will only help me improve this track season.

How do you prepare yourself mentally for a race?  Do you have any superstitions?

I prepare myself by staying focused and relaxed. I do have some common superstitions which are; I have to eat pasta the night before every track meet or I think I won't preform my best, and I have to run in the same socks I wore the last meet, but they are washed every time.

What does your season look like and will you be competing in any out of state track meets during the season or post high school season?

My season looks very unexpected because of our division changed from last season. Moving up to division 2, I am expecting more competition and harder workouts at practice. This year I will be competing in the Arcadia Invitational in California at the beginning of April, and I cannot wait! After high school season I will hopefully be competing in the regional USATF meet in Colorado, the Worlds Junior Championships meet in Oregon and the USATF national meet in Houston, Texas.

What message would you tell younger runners who aspire to be at the top?

My advice to younger kids would be the more effort you put in while training, is what will make you better in the future.

If you had to attribute your success to one thing, what would it be?

My coaches, who push me to be the athlete that I am.

Do you have role models or mentors in track and field?

Honestly anyone who is hard working and talented is my role model. These people show me with hard work and discipline that I can reach my goals.

How many events do you compete in and which event is your favorite?

I compete in the 800m, 400m, hurdles, the heptathlon, 4x800m relay and the 4x100m relay. Although I can't do them all in one meet these are my events. My favorite would have to be the 800m because I've come to love running it.

What are 3 things we don't know about you?

  1. I want to be an anesthesiologist when I'm older.
  2. I been a part of multiple sports such as, gymnastics, swim, soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball, cross country and of course track and field.
  3. I always go back for seconds, food is the fuel for your body.

Best thing your coach ever said to you?

  1. "I'm very proud of you." -Coach Sebastian
