When did you first get involved with track and field?  How long have you been running:

It was my freshman year and I had ran 1 cross country season (fall of freshman year) prior.

 

What is a typical training week like for you?

Well that depends on….. if it is hot or cold, if it is windy or not, if we are on the track or a trail, if I have a headband on or no headband on, short shorts or spandex, long socks or short socks……and….. the color shoes or jersey I’m wearing.

 

What are your goals for the upcoming track season?

1:50 in the 800, 4:10 in the 1600, 49 seconds in the 400

 

How do you prepare yourself mentally for a race?  Do you have any superstitions?

I go to the bathroom before every race.

 

What does your season look like and will you be competing in any out of state track meets during the season or post high school season?

I might go to the Great Southwest after this season.

 

What message would you tell younger runners who aspire to be at the top?

You will win some and lose some. Just make sure you never give up.

 

If you had to attribute your success to one thing, what would it be?

My coaches-Coach Williams & Coach Clarke, my mother, my grandfather, and my training partners on my team like Robert Gladding.

David Rudisha & Ryan Wesson

 

How many events do you compete in and which event is your favorite?

The 800 is my favorite race

 

What are 3 things we don't know about you?

  1. I play guitar
  2. I hate mushrooms
  3. I was a competitive skateboarder from the 6th - 8th grade

 

Best thing your coach ever said to you?

“Run Smart” –Coach Williams

“If you can talk then you are probably not doing it right” –Coach Casarella during warm-ups and speed drills

Winter? Track is in the Summer Olympics! I don’t know about winter.

I kinda like it when it is hot because warming up is easier.
