With the 2014 cross country season just around the corner it's time to start our "Watch List" highlighting the top returners.  Sophomore Sabrina Camino from Desert Vista is our next Watch List athlete.

As the season starts we will continue to add athletes to the list.

When did you get started as a running:

joined my middle school cross country team in  6th grade and  I have been running ever since.

Which meets will you be running this year?

I will for sure be running in Woodbridge, Desert Twilight , Tempe City, and Nike  Cross Regionals

 

What are your goals for the upcoming track season?  What do you look forward to the most?

My personal goals for the season are to PR at the Woodbridge Invitational, and at the Twilight Invitational. I look forward to pushing myself to be the best runner  I can be,  partying in California with my team after Woodbridge and sending our girls to Nationals.

How is your summer training going?  Your favorite workout? What kind of summer mileage do you run?

Summer training has been really fun, my favorite workout is our  Saturday long runs and  I dont really know my summer mileage.

Do you cross train (lift, swim, bike etc)?

I cross train several times a week, either biking. aqua jogging, or swimming. I also  wight lift  and do body specific workouts several times a week as well.  Madi Bucci and I spend lots of time working out together for fun.

Do you follow any kind of nutrition program or watch what you eat?

I definitley try to eat healthy, my diet consists mostly of fruits, vegetables, grains, and lean protiens, with and emphasis on making sure im getting the right amount of preotien everyday along with making sure that I am properly hydrated every day. But in all honesty here I do love eating ice cream and bacon and donuts

Have you ever been injured?

Last season I dealt with horrible knee pain and sat out for several months during the track season because of Patella Tendonitis and Osgood Schlatters and I still currently deal with Osgood.

So far in your high school career, what is your favorite cross country race or cross country memory?

One of my favorite memories was running in State last year , it was such an amazing experience  for me personally and our team. Winning our state title was such a huge accomplishment for us last year.

What is the best part of running?

The best part of running is seeing how far you can push your mind and your body because only some people ever get to experience that.

 

Out of all your running accomplishments so far, which stands out the most?

Running in State and being able to contribute to our 1st place finish made me really happy.

When you are not running what do you like to do?

When I am not running I am either on the mat  at  Brazilllian Jui Jitsu Practice,  playing xbox, camping , riding dirtbikes, outdoors, reading, eating, sleeping, playing the saxophone, or eating some more.

How have your coaches influenced you overall?

Coach Messer is such an awesome coach he is so dedicated to  our team and  I would not be the runner i am today without him.

Going to McDonalds with Madi Bucci and getting a vanilla ice cream cone and fries.
