Pre-Season Athlete of the Year:

D.J. Harris (Desert Vista)

D.J. returns after a solid season of track to help Desert Vista defend their team title this fall. I doubt a team title or an individual title is all that is on D.J.’s mind. Desert Vista has a philosophy that directs athletes focus on a national level. D.J. and the rest of his Thunder teammates will have their eyes set on taking down the Utah schools and earn a spot at NXN.

Pre-Season All State Boys Cross Country:

The methodology for picking this team was selecting the top returner in each classification and the next 3 fastest times from state last year. I did give a slight bias towards the later races from state since they had to run in a lot more heat than the other divisions.
