Armand Duplantis Signs With LSU

Armand 'Mondo' Duplantis, the best pole vaulter in U.S. high school history, has announced his signing with Louisiana State University. Duplantis announced Wednesday evening via his Instagram his decision.

"It's a family thing," Mondo said in his post.

Mondo's father Greg Duplantis, mother Helena, and brother Antoine all went to LSU.

Mondo holds the world junior record outdoors in the pole vault with a mark of 19 feet, 4.25 inches from the Texas Relays in 2017. He also holds the U20 indoor world record with his vault of 19-1 from New Balance Nationals Indoor. In total, between both indoor and outdoor, he had 16 final marks over 18 feet, 10 in the spring and six during the indoor season.

Duplantis finished ninth at the IAAF World Championships. He's a huge pickup for LSU, as he's sure to make an impact on the NCAA level from the get-go.
