State Meet Wrap Up; Divisions 5A II, 4A II and 3A

With the temperatures continuing to rise the afternoon races started at 1:00 PM with the boys 4A II.

State Meet Wrapup - Afternoon Session!

4A II Boys

BRIAN SHRADER (SR., SINAGUA)

4A II State Champion

Brian took a conservative lead at the start with Jose Luis Munoz (Sr., Rio Rico) right behind.  Before he got to the 2 mile mark Brian had already put some distance between himself and everyone else, finishing the race in 15:15.90 less than a second off of his own course record set last year.

With Sherod Hardt in 4A I, Steve Magnuson in 5A II, Billy Orman in 3A,  and Jorge Martinez in 5A I, the competition was not what it could have been if the divisions were put back together.

"I enjoy the competition," said Shrader after his race.  "Everyone thinks its easier to run by yourself but its not.  No matter how slow you go its still going to hurt."

He was also very happy for his teammate Dylan Hatch who finished in 5th place. "By City he (Dylan) started to get stronger and in the workouts he was staying with me," said a very proud Shrader.
