Top Returning Division I Sprinters

Now that Queen Creek has been sorted into Division I, the Bulldogs have two Seniors, Trey Johnson and Kavon Jackson ready to rock it in the 100 Meter Dash. Trey was the 100 Meter State Champion last year in Division II, and while Trey has a non-wind legal mark of 10.80 from the Hohokam Invitational, Kavon ran 10.81 and Southeast Valley Championships under wind legal conditions. In the 200m, Jaheim Brown-Taylor (Chandler, So.) is the top returner with his performance of 21.86 from the USATF Region 10 Championships. Last year, as a freshman, Brown finished 2nd in the D1 Boys 200m Final at the State Meet. Last year we also saw Christopher Russell (Cesar Chavez, Sr.) breakout in the sprints with PRs 10.93 for 100m and 22.17 for 200m both from the Desert Vista Last Chance Meet. He ended his season with a 5th place finish in the D1 Boys 200m Final and is now ranked 4th and 5th among D1 Returning Boys for both respective events. Finally, we come to the quarter-milers, headed by David Eppinger (Perry, Jr.) with his 400m PR of 48.92. Meanwhile, Weston Wallace (Mesa Mountain View, Sr.) was the top non-Senior in the 400m Final with his PR of 49.55 for a 3rd place finish. We wish the best for these and the many other athletes competing over the course of the season.
