King of the Mountain Co-ed Invitational
Coaches and Athletic Directors,

It is my pleasure to invite your boys and girls cross country teams to the 4th running of the Red Mountain King of the Mountain Co-ed XC Invitational! This unique format shows which school truly has the best overall program. The intent of the meet manager is to bring together the best of the perennial best that Arizona has to offer and challenge all aspects of their programs! We also want to run a meet that starts early, runs smoothly, and can have you home before kickoff!

Changes for this year:

-This year the event will be held on Labor Day weekend, two weeks earlier than normal.

What: A co-ed Cross Country invitational

There will be 3 total races: One varsity race for both boys and girls combined, one race for boys and girls open race combined, and one race for boys and girls frosh combined. Results from each gender are combined to determine the winner of each division. For team scoring purposes both the boys and girls teams from the same school must participate. For scoring purposes Xavier and Brophy will count as the same school.

Teams: We are limiting the number of teams to 22 boys and 22 girls teams, so please register on athletic.net or contact Coach Selby ASAP. For team scoring purposes, both the boys and girls teams from the same school must participate. Medals and ribbons will be awarded to individual finishers regardless of team scoring.

Course: The course is a two-loop, spectator friendly course with small rolling hills throughout. The course is 60% grass, 20% dirt, and 20% concrete. Metal spikes are not allowed on the course; rubber racing flats or trainers only, please. Please have parents and runners stay off of greens and tee boxes.

Time schedule:

5:15am- Course is open for walk-through

6:00am- Coaches meeting

6:30am- Boys and girls Freshman

7:10am- Boys and girls Non-Varsity

7:50am- Boys and girls Varsity

8:50am- Awards

Scoring: The first five runners of each gender for Varsity and JV division will score, the first three runners of each gender for Freshman will score. Varsity teams will be comprised of no more and no less than 5 runners of each gender. JV and Freshmen teams may have an unlimited number of runners. If any division or gender is incomplete, a score of 999 will be given to that runner.

Awards: Varsity-A trophy will be awarded to the top Varsity placing combined gender team. A plaque will go to the top boys finisher and top girls finisher, dog tag medals to the top 10 for each gender, and ribbons to places 11-25 (in chute). A perfect division score will be 30. Medals, plaques, and trophies will be presented on the Northeast corner of the driving range.

JV- A trophy will be awarded to the top combined boys and girls non-varsity team. Dog Tag medals will go to the top 10 finishers for each gender, and ribbons to 11-40 (in chute). A perfect division score will be 30.

Frosh- A trophy will be awarded to the top combined boys and girls frosh team. Dog Tag medals will go to the top 10 finishers for each gender, and ribbons to 11-25 (in chute). A perfect division score will be 12.

Overall- A trophy will be awarded to the top combined boys and girls team across all divisions, and a runner-up trophy will also be awarded to the team with the second best total score from across all divisions.

Driving directions and parking: Take the Loop 202 Red Mountain and exit on Recker. Head South on Recker then turn right (West) on Longbow Parkway/Preston. In half a mile, turn right (North) into the dirt parking lot. Busses and spectators may park here for the duration of the event.

Team camps: Teams should set up camps on the middle of the driving range.

Timing and entries: Timing will be done by Wingfoot Finish. Entries are due on athletic.net by Monday August 28th by 11:59pm.

Payment: Please make a payments of $125 for each gender ($250 combined) to Red Mountain Cross Country.
