RAY WHERLEY CROSS COUNTRY INVITATIONAL

PRESCOTT HIGH SCHOOL

Dear Athletic Director/Coach,

Your Cross Country team is cordially invited to attend the 40th annual Ray Wherley Cross Country Invitational in Prescott. Featuring unique race and scoring formats, cool temperatures, and a challenging elevation, the Ray Wherley XC Invitational is one of the premier XC invitational in Arizona.

Date of meet: Saturday, September 9, 2017

Location: Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Campus in Prescott.

Entry Fee: $150.00 per team, or $275.00 for both Boys & Girls teams from the same school. Due to Prescott High School by September 4th.

Registration: On Athletic.Net Please enter all athletes in one of the events no later then September 6th at 6:00pm.

Time

Novice Race 9:30 (Freshmen & Sophomores only). 9:30am
Junior/Senior Race (for those not in your top 7) after finish of Novice Race
Varsity Races (4 flights) begin at 10:50am
Coaches meeting: 8:45 in the Hospitality Ramada

VARSITY FORMAT: Scored according to the fastest cumulative team time. To be eligible for the team championship, a team must have seven runners.

NOVICE AND JR/SR: Two races, one for the Freshman/Sophomore runners only; and the other for Junior/Senior runners.

The Varsity meet will be run in four separate flights. Flight one will have runners 7 and 6, flight two will have runners 5 and 4, flight three will have runners 3 and 2, and flight four will have each team’s #1 runner. Each boys’ and girls’ race will run concurrently. Any non-finishers will be given a time of 59 minutes for team scoring purposes.

AWARDS:

Varsity Races: Medals will be awarded to the top eight finishers in each level. A team

championship and runner-up trophy will also be given.

Novice & Jr/Sr: Medals to the top 16 boys and girls in each race.
