Highlights

  • Girls 60H: Sasha Wallace (CA) shocks Dior Hall and the Dempsey crowd, getting the win with a US#3 ALL-TIME clocking and meet record of 8.18!! Dior Hall (CO) was 2nd in 8.21 and Skylar Ross-Ransom (TX) was 3rd in 8.33.
  • Boys 60H: Aaron Mallett (MO) stayed steady in a rocky race to win the title with a US#1 clocking of 7.80.  Freddie Crittenden (MI) finished an incredibly close 2nd with a time of 7.82.  Isaiah Moore (NC) was 3rd with a time of 7.96.  
  • Girls 60m: Kali Davis-White (FL) won the race with a quick 7.31 clocking. Aaliyah Brown (IL) finished 2nd in 7.34 and Hannah Cunliffe (WA) was 3rd in 7.38.
  • Boys 60m: Cameron Burrell (TX) looked like a rocket as he clocked a US#2 ALL-TIME 6.61 for the win! Burrell is now faster than Deworski Odom!  
  • Girls 400m: Precious Holmes (CT) won the girls race with a time of 54.37, a new US#1.  Shamier Little (IL) was 2nd with a US#2 time of 54.65.  Deja Parrish (FL) finished 3rd with a quick 55.58.  Sydnee Over (CT) was 4th in 55.68 and Kendall Ellis (FL) was 5th in 56.07.  
  • Boys 400m: Alex Rohani (CA) won the race with a quick 47.89 after staying out of the contact on the backstretch.  Marcus Chambers (WA) was 2nd in 48.84 and Antwon Smith (OH) was 3rd in 48.87.
  • Boys 800m: Tyler Smith (CAN) takes it for the second year in a row with a Meet Record time of 1:50.89.  Tre'Tez Kinnaird (KY) finished 2nd with a US#1 time of 1:50.97 and Andres Arroyo (FL) got in for 3rd with a US#2 time of 1:51.10.  Jacob Dumford (OH) finished 4th in 1:51.41.
  • Girls 800m: Hannah Meier (MI) the Mile champ last year, won the 800 by going right to the front, clocking 60s for her first quarter.  Meier set the Meet Record with a US#1 time of 2:07.45.  Katie Willard (TX) was 2nd with a time of 2:09.89.  Therese Haiss (OH) was 3rd in 2:10.40 and Reagan Anderson (DE) was 4th in 2:10.43.
  • Girls Mile: Amy-Eloise Neale (WA) won after leading early and then kicking late with a time of 4:45.89.  Haley Meier (MI) finished 2nd in 4:46.56.  Anna Maxwell (CA) was 3rd with a time of 4:47.37. Rebekah Topham (IA) finished 4th in 4:48.66.
  • Boys Mile: Trevor Gilley (TX) won the boys race with a long kick and hung on with a US#1 clocking of 4:08.24.  
  • Girls 2Mile: Erin Finn (MI) won the girls race with a Meet Record clocking and US#2 time of 10:08.24.  Wesley Frazier (NC) kicked hard for 2nd with a time of 10:14.88 and Alexa Efraimson (WA) was 3rd in 10:15.82.  Katie Knight (WA) rounded out the top-4 with a time of 10:17.78.
  • Boys 2Mile: Bernie Montoya (AZ) used a huge 57s last lap to win with a Meet Record time of 8:54.63.  Jacob Thomson (KY) made him work for it, pushing hard into the final straight to finishe with a time of 8:54.88 for second.  Jake Leingang (ND) finished a solid third in 8:56.86 after taking most of the pacing duties early in the race.

 

Eastern States Championships, NY

Highlights

  • Pleasantville (NJ) boys rolled to a US#1 in the 4x800m relay with a time of 7:45.55.  Jacob Clark split a 1:52.2.  
  • Timber Creek boys won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:22.91 and the 4x200m relay with a time of 1:29.72.
  • West Windsor Plainsboro South (NJ) rolled in the DMR with a new US#1 clocking of 10:13.60!
  • Freehold Township won the girls 4x800m relay with a time of 9:13.82.
  • New Rochelle took the girls 4x200m relay with a time of 1:40.76.
  • Lenape Regional (NJ) won the girls DMR with an impressive US#2 clocking of 11:54.63.
  • Keturah Orji (Mount Olive) won the girls triple jump with a US#2 mark of 40-10.50.

Highlights

  • Wellington Zaza of Garnet Valley had a career day in his final indoor state championship meet. The senior came home with three gold medals and a 3rd place medal on a relay to lead his team to a 2nd place finish. Zaza started the day with a meet record in the 60 meter hurdles in 7.84 and then in the semifinals and finals, he ran 7.79 to win the title and earn US#3 honors. His other two golds came in the field events as he took home the long jump title on his last jump to come away as the winner with a US#6 mark of 23-9. Finally in the triple jump, Zaza bettered his seasonal best by one inch with a US#8 mark of 49-11!
  • Lasalle ran the distance medley relay and after taking the lead going into the 3rd leg, Tom Coyle brought it home on the anchor leg with a state leading and US#4 time of 10:19.47.
  • Norristown continued their 2013 superiority in the 4x200 meter relay taking home the gold in 1:29.68 just ahead of Pennridge (1:29.87) and Garnet Valley (1:29.93).
  • Marshay Ryan of Chambersburg, completed the long and triple jump sweep with huge marks. Her triple jump mark of 40-11.50 to set the meet record and soar all the way to the top of the national list!
  • On the track, the fastest 3000 meter run in the history of the state took place with 3 juniors and 1 senior breaking the 10 minute mark. Courtney Smith of Unionville led for most of the race with Tessa Barrett of Abington Heights, Regan Rome of Dallas and Veronica Eder of Central Bucks East trying to run with her. After leaving Eder and Rome behind, Smith made a move on the final lap to try and shake Barrett off, but Barrett hung on and passed by Smith in the final 50 meters to win her first state championship and set a new all time PA state record with a time of 9:47.73, which is also US#5! Smith also broke the old state record with a US#6 time of 9:48.24. Rome and Eder both ran 9:53.59 to share the US#10 spot.
  • Emma Keenan of Gwynedd Mercy Academy repeated as champion in the 800 meter run in the same way she won the title last season by going out from the gun and running wire to wire to win in 2:10.28, good for US#5.

 

VHSL State Indoor Championships, VA

Highlights

  • MIchael Cherry (Oscar Smith) roared around the track in the 300m dash to set a National Record with a clocking of 33.05!! The time beats William Reed's (PA) 1986 mark of 33.19.
  • Felecia Majors went 5-5 in the High Jump to place 4th, 12-0 in the Pole Vault to place first, 38-4.25 in the Triple Jump for 2nd, 1:13.62 in the 500m for 2nd, 39.46 in the 300m for 2nd and 20-0 in the Long Jump for first, scoring 49 points for the most ever by any individual!!
  • Forest Park boys won the 4x200 relay with a blazing meet record time of 1:28.06 on a flat track!
  • Chantilly (VA) boys rolled in the 4x800m relay with a winning time of 7:52.99.  Splits were Johanan Sowah, 2:01, Andris Sturans, 2:00, Logan Miller, 1:55, Sean McGorty, 1:55.  
  • Lake Braddock girls won the 4x800m relay with a 9:11.35 clocking, with splits of 2:19 for Katy Kunc, 2:17 for Hannah Christen, 2:15 for Katie Roche and 2:18 for Sophie Chase.
  • Aaron Worrell (Woodside) won the triple jump with a US#2 (tie) leap of 49-7.50.
  • Galissia Cause (Battlefield) won the girls shot put with a heave of 42-00.75.

 

 

 Felecia ran a PR of 39.46 in the 300m at VHSL Group AAA State Indoor Track & Field Championships, placing second.

 Felecia got a PR of 20-0 in the Long Jump at VHSL Group AAA State Indoor Track & Field Championships, placing first.

 
 

NJ Meet of Champions, NJ

  • Olivia Baker (Columbia) won the 400m dash with a blazing US#1 performance of 54.72.  Olivia also won the 800m dash with a time of 2:14.83.
  • The Columbia girls squad won the 4x400m relay with a meet record clocking of 3:48.30.
  • The boys 800m run was smoking as Isaac Clark (Pleasantville) capitalized on a fast early pace (54 first 400) to snap the Meet Record and record the fastest time in the nation this year, a stellar 1:51.72.  Derrell Manhertz (Kingsway) was second with a US#2 clocking of 1:51.80 and Isaac's brother Jacob was third with a US#4 time of 1:52.15.
  • Rob Napolitano (Red Bank Catholic) won the 1600m in 4:17.84 with a 2:03 last 800m.
  • Tom O'Neill (Middletown) won the boys 3200m run with a 9:02.00 clocking for US#5.
  • Craig Hunter (Robbinsville) won the pole vault with a meet record performance of 16-00.

 

MIAA Auerbach All State Meet, MA

Highlights

  • Catarina Rocha (Peabody) won the Mile run with a MA All-Time clocking of 4:49.14!
  • Lexington HS won the girls 4x400 relay with a time of 3:56.27.
  • Bryanna Allison (Lowell) won the 1000m run with a time of 2:53.32.
  • Joshua Kerber (Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) won the boys 1000m with a time of 2:30.21.
  • Jonathan Green (Saint John's) won the 3200m run with a time of 9:21.48.
  • Mike O'Donnell (Methuen) won the 1600m run with a time of 4:15.81.
  • Adam Couitt (Somerset Berkley) won the high jump with a US#1 tie of 6-10.

 

CIAC State Open Championships, CT

Highlights

  • Precious Holmes, Hillhouse, had a nice showing, winning the 300m dash with a time of 39.07 and the 600m dash with a winning time of 1:34.07.
  • Henry Wynne, Staples, snagged a nice double, winning the 1000m run with a time of 2:31.32 and the 1600m run with a time of 4:23.53.
  • Demario Gray, Bloomfield, won the high jump to tie the US#1 national time with a leap of 6-10.
