When did you first get involved with track and field?  How long have you been running:

I first got involved with track and field in about fourth grade. At first I wanted to be a sprinter to help with my speed for soccer, however when my coach saw me he instantly knew that I was suppose to be a distance runner. I have been running for almost seven years.

 

What is a typical training week like for you?

A typical training week involves a interval workout on monday with the occasionally a circuit, relaxed run on tuesday, a longer interval workout on wednesday with a circuit, a relaxed run on thursday and friday, and a longer run on saturday with a circuit.


 

What are your goals for the upcoming track season?

One of my big goals is to have fun and keep things relaxed. However, from a time perspective, my goal for the 1600 this season is to be close to 5:00. My goal for the 800 is to be close or under 2:20.

 

 

How do you prepare yourself mentally for a race?  Do you have any superstitions?

I prepare myself mentally for a race by  and calling my coaches after. Then the morning of I listen to music and mentally motivate myself.


 

What does your season look like and will you be competing in any out of state track meets during the season or post high school season?

This season we are running alot more meets and doing alot more speed work. We are looking to have fun while still working hard. We are competing in Arcadia Invitational and Mt. Sac.


 

What message would you tell younger runners who aspire to be at the top?

My message to young runners would be to take your time and enjoy the success but learn from the downfalls.


 

If you had to attribute your success to one thing, what would it be?

I would attribute my success to staying strong and never giving up. I would also attribute my success to my coaches, shoutout to Coach Vito for always believing in me.


 

Do you have role models or mentors in track and field?

My role model is Prefontaine.


 

How many events do you compete in and which event is your favorite?

I compete in the 1600, 3200, and 800. My favorite event is the 1600.


 

What are 3 things we don't know about you?
