When did you first get involved with track and field?  How long have you been running:

I first got involved in track in seventh grade. I joined club track after my Coach then
urged me too. I begin to take distance even more seriously once high school started.

What is a typical training week like for you?

A typical week includes track workouts Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and
Fridays recovery runs, Wednesday either a track workout or Tempo run, and then a
long run on Saturday.

What are your goals for the upcoming track season?

My main goal is to simply run well. Last year I had pneumonia and was not able to
compete. I want to run to my full potential and I am excited to see what this year
brings.

How do you prepare yourself mentally for a race?  Do you have any superstitions?

I just try my best to stay as relaxed as possible. I always remind myself that I love
running and racing and that I have done the work to get to where I am. I have to eat
exactly three hours before I race.

What does your season look like and will you be competing in any out of state track meets during the season or post high school season?

I competed at Arcadia.  This season is going to exciting and
I’m just really excited and blessed to be racing this season. I know that I have been
working really hard and that I really have given running all of my focus.

What message would you tell younger runners who aspire to be at the top?

I would tell younger athletes to never give up. I know that it is a cliché but it is so
true. The hard workouts, the sleepless nights, not feeling fit enough, and the doubt
that goes through everyone’s head. Don’t let that influence you but instead let those
struggles push you to be better and stronger. Never give up hope and remember
your dreams and goals and what you aspire to be.

If you had to attribute your success to one thing, what would it be?

I have some amazing people who I own everything to. I own my successes to my
parents, my grandparents, my teammates, and my coaches. Everyone has made huge
sacrifices for me and for that I am ever grateful. I also thank God everyday for giving
me the opportunity and gift of being good at running.

Do you have role models or mentors in track and field?

I look up to Galen Rupp, Mo Farah, Shalane Flannigan, and Kara Goucher. I also look
up to my coach Vito, who was very successful back in his day and now gives us (the
team) everything he has and wants the absolute best for every one.

How many events do you compete in and which event is your favorite?

I compete in the 800, 1600, and the 3200. I would have to say that I love both the
1600 and the 3200.
