What are your goals for the upcoming season:

I hope to win state and also p.r. this season, but I also want to have fun. There’s a lot of pressure during senior year and it’s easy to get caught up in it. My main goals this year are to remember why I run and to keep the focus on God.

How is your summer training going?   Your favorite workout?  What kind of summer mileage do you run?

My summer training is going great! I worked up to about 65 miles a week this summer, much more than I have done in the past. I feel great and totally prepared for this season! My favorite workouts are my Saturday long runs because after I run for two hours in the morning I can just focus on eating for the rest of the day.

How long have you been running and how did you get started:

I’ve been running since freshman year. I got started running because my brother had some success in running and I wanted to give it a shot.

Which meets will you be running this year?

I’ll be running at a lot of the same meets as last year, but also some new ones. I will for sure be running at the Adobe Invitational and Desert Twilight. Hopefully I will also run at the Rattler Invitational in Tucson and maybe a race in Flagstaff.

What are your favorite and toughest courses to run in State and out of State?

My favorite course to run in-state is Desert Twilight because of the fun and intense atmosphere. The toughest course I’ve raced in-state would be the Wickenburg course because it’s our team’s first race of the year and it’s extremely hilly and hot.

So far in your high school career, what is your favorite cross country race or cross country memory?

My favorite cross country memory was at Desert Twilight last year. I got the opportunity to run in the Sweepstakes race and ended up placing tenth! I also really enjoyed being able to cheer for my teammates, who were in different races.

What do you look forward to the most this season?

I look forward to running as hard as I can while having fun! I look forward to being a team leader. I also can’t wait for the day when it’s not over 100 degrees when I go for my run.

Out of all your running accomplishments so far, which stands out the most?

I think my biggest running accomplishment was when I won the 1600 and 3200 at state last May.

When you are not running what do you like to do?

I am an avid piano player, and I also sing in my school’s a cappella choir (get in line, ladies). I enjoy going to church and playing sports with my brother and sister, such as basketball, volleyball, and racquetball. I also enjoy doing stuff, and things, such as watch The Walking Dead.

Do you cross train (lift, swim, bike etc)?

Our team lifts several times every week. We do a lot of core work!

How have your coaches influenced you overall?

My coaches have influenced me throughout my career. Their leadership, support, and faith have inspired me so much. My coaches have taught me to put running into perspective, but have also pushed me to the best I can be.

Are you considering running after college?

I am unsure whether I will run competitively after college. I will definitely run for the rest of my life, whether that is competitive or not. If everything goes well and I remain healthy in college, we’ll see what happens!

Shout-Outs?

Shout out to all my running camp buddies from Bo Reed Racing Camp! Shout out to Kyle, Claren, Andrew, Rachel, Mali, Sarah, Micah, Harvey, Flynn, Ben, Em, Noah, and Chris! Good luck this season guys!
