When did you first get involved with track and field?  How long have you been running:

When I was little I ran in many 1K Fun Runs with my friends.  I first started competing in 6th grade at Orange Grove Middle School and have continued with it ever since.

What is a typical training week like for you?

My typical training week consists of alternating hard days with easy days in between. We start off the week with 200 meter repetitions which I like! On Saturdays we a have long run in Sabino Canyon.

What are your goals for the upcoming track season?

My goal is to get the school record for the 800 which is 2:17 and PR’s in all my other events. I would also love to win state as a team!

How do you prepare yourself mentally for a race?  Do you have any superstitions?

I imagine myself running the race and think about how relieved I will feel when it’s over. I used to think I only did well when I braided my hair, but that was a false superstition. I always do a few jumps before my race for good luck.

What does your season look like and will you be competing in any out of state track meets during the season or post high school season?

This season we will have 4 Wednesday meets and many more invitational meets that we have never competed in before. I’m excited to experience the new invitationals! I will not be competing in out of state track meets or post high school season.

What message would you tell younger runners who aspire to be at the top?

I would tell younger runners to work hard now and it will pay off, and remember to have fun! I would tell them to take advantage of the opportunities to meet new people in track because I have met some of my best friends through this sport.

If you had to attribute your success to one thing, what would it be?

No matter how I’m feeling, I always give 100% effort in everything I do.

Do you have role models or mentors in track and field?

My mom is my role model. She ran track and field in high school and broke multiple school records. She gives me great tips, encouragement, and motivation.

How many events do you compete in and which event is your favorite?

I compete in 4 events: the 400, 800, 4x400 relay, and 4x800 relay. My favorite races are the 800 and 4x400 relay.

What are 3 things we don't know about you?
