With the 2014 cross country season just around the corner it's time to start our "Watch List" highlighting the top returners. Chaparral Senior Ali Kallner is our next Watch List athlete.
As the season starts we will continue to add athletes to the list.

Best time in a 5K and a 3 Mile Race:
5k: 18:22
3 mile: 18:32 (shouldn't a 3 mile be faster than a 5K? woops)
When did you get started as a running:
I didn’t start running competitively until freshmen year, but as a kid I did some fun runs and occasionally attended middle school track practice in 7th and 8th grade.
Which meets will you be running this year?
We have quite a few meets on the schedule but the big ones are Doug Conley, Twilight, Mt. Carmel in San Diego, and of course State.
What are your goals for the upcoming track season? What do you look forward to the most?
My goal this year is of course to PR, but also to really enjoy racing and get the most out of my last high school xc season.
How is your summer training going? Your favorite workout? What kind of summer mileage do you run?
Summer training has been really fun, my favorite workout is our Saturday long runs and I dont really know my summer mileage
Do you cross train (lift, swim, bike etc)?
I do cross train a little bit! This summer I did a triathlon on my birthday which was really fun and a great all around workout.
Do you follow any kind of nutrition program or watch what you eat?
I don't follow a program but I generally eat pretty healthy, with a weekly dose of frozen yogurt.
Have you ever been injured?
I haven't had a serious injury, knock on wood.
So far in your high school career, what is your favorite cross country race or cross country memory?
I can’t pick a favorite, but I loved Disney Land with my team last year, and winning the team title at city is always fun.
What is the best part of running?
The people that are involved and the feeling you get after crossing the line
Out of all your running accomplishments so far, which stands out the most?
I hold the team record for most times peeing during a race. That’s the standout. I’m also proud of my top ten finish at State (:
When you are not running what do you like to do?
I love water skiing, and making/eating good food.
How have your coaches influenced you overall?
SUPER positively. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
