AZ 2014 Cross Country Watch List - Justin Littleman

 

With the 2014 cross country season just around the corner it's time to start our "Watch List" highlighting the top returners.  Page senior Justin Littleman is our next Watch List athlete.

As the season starts we will continue to add athletes to the list.

5k: 15:53

When did you get started as a running:

I began running my freshman year and haven't stopped since.

Which meets will you be running this year?

The meets I'll be running are Mt. Sac, Stanford Invitational, Nike Southwest just to name a few.

 

What are your goals for the upcoming track season?  What do you look forward to the most?

My goals are to run a sub 15:00 5k and I'm looking forward to Mt. Sac, Stanford, State, and Nike Southwest.

How is your summer training going?  Your favorite workout? What kind of summer mileage do you run?

My training is going excellent, I usually average 35-50 miles a week. 

 

Do you cross train (lift, swim, bike etc)?

I usually go swimming every other day and do some running in the water.

 

Do you follow any kind of nutrition program or watch what you eat?

I mostly stay away from all the fast food and junk food.

 

Have you ever been injured?

I injured my back this past cross country season which kept me out from track. My injured back consisted of me having surgery on my spine to fix my herniated disc between L4 and L5. Now I'm fully recovered from this injury and ready for this season.

 

So far in your high school career, what is your favorite cross country race or cross country memory?

My favorite memories would have to be achieving my goals in races individually and as a team.

What is the best part of running?

The best part about running is being able to relax, let my mind off of things and feel good about myself while doing it.

 

Out of all your running accomplishments so far, which stands out the most?

Desert Twilight when I ran a 15:53 5k.

 

When you are not running what do you like to do?

I like to go to the lake or quading riding with my friends.

 

How have your coaches influenced you overall?

My coaches taught me how to become a great runner, role model and individual.

Shout out to my family and coaches for the support and encouragement for the sport I love. Also shout out to my team "It's hammer time baby! Let's get it!"
