With the 2014 cross country season just around the corner it's time to start our "Watch List" highlighting the top returners.  Senior Joshua Fleetwood from Marana Mt. View is our next Watch List athlete.

As the season starts we will continue to add athletes to the list.

When did you get started as a running:

I started running seriously freshmen year summer, when I realized the potential I had.

Which meets will you be running this year?

Twilight, Mt Carmel, Desert solstices and many more. 

 

What are your goals for the upcoming track season?  What do you look forward to the most?

My goals for the season is to stay injury free and the fast times will follow, I look forward most is competing at a very competitive level.

 

How is your summer training going?  Your favorite workout? What kind of summer mileage do you run?

Summer training went well even with a late start. My favorite work out was just a relaxed long run with my team mates.  Averaged around 35-60 miles.

 

Do you cross train (lift, swim, bike etc)?

Lifting is one of my second hobbies. Got to lift the weights to get the dates.

 

Do you follow any kind of nutrition program or watch what you eat?

I eat anything and everything to maintain weight.

 

Have you ever been injured?

Sadly yes , I was injured from the end of February to the end of May. I had a stress fracture in my knee and hamstring issue on the same leg, which put me M.I.A for all of track season.

 

So far in your high school career, what is your favorite cross country race or cross country memory?

My favorite race has to be twilight because that race makes you feel like you are 25 sitting on 25 mill. 

 

What is the best part of running?

Not having to watch what you eat, and the feeling of accomplishment.

Running is also the cheapest therapy. 

 

Out of all your running accomplishments so far, which stands out the most?

My biggest accomplishment was breaking my goal of 16 minutes and winning the championship race at twilight.

 

When you are not running what do you like to do?

When I am not running I enjoy lifting, hanging with friends and droping sick mix tapes.

 

How have your coaches influenced you overall?

Yeah they have taught me good techniques and to not be slow.
