AZ 2014 Cross Country Watch List - Jacob Toller

 

With the 2014 cross country season just around the corner it's time to start our "Watch List" highlighting the top returners.  Junior Jacob Toller from Mesa Mountain View is our next Watch List athlete.

As the season starts we will continue to add athletes to the list.

When did you get started as a running:

Freshman track season

Which meets will you be running this year?

 Chandler, King of the Mountain, Glendale Showcase, Twilight, Mesa City, Sectionals, State

 

What are your goals for the upcoming track season?  What do you look forward to the most?

My goals are to improve on my times from last year and help my team be successful. 

 

How is your summer training going?  Your favorite workout? What kind of summer mileage do you run?

Good – I missed a little on vacation but I also ran high altitudes in Colorado and Utah

 

Do you cross train (lift, swim, bike etc)?

No

 

Do you follow any kind of nutrition program or watch what you eat?

I try to eat healthy and stay away from as much junk as possible.

 

Have you ever been injured?

No

 

So far in your high school career, what is your favorite cross country race or cross country memory?

My favorite xc race was sectionals because our team did well and I liked the course.

 

What is the best part of running?

The best part of running is overcoming the mental pain when your mind is telling you to run off of the track.

 

Out of all your running accomplishments so far, which stands out the most?

There is nothing that really sticks out to me.

 

When you are not running what do you like to do?

 The typical teen stuff – sleep, listen to music and hang out with my friends

 

How have your coaches influenced you overall?

They have taught me to believe in myself and trust my race instincts.  They have also taught me how to train.
