AZ 2014 Cross Country Watch List - Lauren Kinzle

 

With the 2014 cross country season just around the corner it's time to start our "Watch List" highlighting the top returners.  Senior Lauren Kinzle from Xavier College Prep is our next Watch List athlete.

As the season starts we will continue to add athletes to the list.

5k: 18:26.20

3 Mile: 17:54.90

When did you get started as a running:

I started running in the 4th grade

Which meets will you be running this year?

The main races we will be running this year are Doug Conley, Desert Twilight, Rattler Invitational and State.

 

What are your goals for the upcoming track season?  What do you look forward to the most?

I hope to work my hardest and be a helpful contributor to Xavier’s cross country team. I look forward to running with girls I love this season.

 

How is your summer training going?  Your favorite workout? What kind of summer mileage do you run?

Summer training is going really well. My favorite workouts are Saturday runs; they’re long but I always feel accomplished when we’re done.

 

Do you cross train (lift, swim, bike etc)?

We run twice a day on Tuesdays and Thursdays and do weights after.

 

So far in your high school career, what is your favorite cross country race or cross country memory?

My favorite cross country memory is cross country camp this year. It was definitely a lot of fun and very productive.

 

What is the best part of running?

The best part of running is being able to compete with my fantastic team. I also love that accomplished feeling after a good race.

 

When you are not running what do you like to do?

 When I’m not running I like to hang out with friends and swim.

 

How have your coaches influenced you overall?

My coaches have influenced and inspired me overall through their words and actions. They definitely lead through example in a positive way that has shaped not only my running career, but also my academic career and my view on life.

 Shout-out to Conley Marquez and Jane Miller for being my closest friends who have known me the longest. Shout-out to the girls who have graduated and the girls still on the team! I hope we all do great this running season.
