Anna Foreman was selected as athlete of the week for her national caliber performance in the 400m at the AMDG Invitational.

If you were thinking that Chandler High School would be down in the sprints after Ky Westbrook graduated, well, think again. Anna Foreman erased all doubt at the AMDG Invite that Chandler would be without a top tier sprinter.

Despite already having a 4x100m leg on her legs, Anna Foreman was able to win the 400m dash in a state leading time of 55.90. Coming off the top of the second turn the race was still in some doubt, but Anna relied heavily on a late race surge to put away. “Asiah is a 200 specialist so I knew she would be tired," Anna explained, “I know I have a strong finish so I just took off with 120 to go." Take off she did, as her time was over a half second ahead of the super freshman from Liberty High school.

Anna's time not only put her over a half second ahead of runner up Liberty's Asiah Fields but a quarter second ahead of three time state champion Jasmine Stauffacher-Gray who ran at the Husky Invite on Saturday. Despite the success Anna is not satisfied, “I just want to get faster." She knows she will face more tough competition in the state at the 400m distance. Next week at the Chandler Invitational Anna will have to bring her A-game in her biggest high school test to date. “I just want to PR and place in the top 3," stated Anna, “If I run my fastest I will be satisfied."

Being the top sprinter in a storied program Anna says there can be a little bit of pressure sometimes, but she chooses not to focus on it. Instead she prefers to focus on running for her team. “If my teammates cheer for me I know they want me on the team," recounted Anna. Even though some view track as an individual sport, it is not for Anna or the rest of the Wolves. Like Coach Eric Richardson says, “teamwork makes dreamwork."
