Jadyn Mays: Arizona Girls Sprinter Of The Year

Grade: Freshman

Jadyn Mays opened her freshman season at the Richard Thompson Classic running 57.76 for 400 meters for 3rd place and continued to finish on the podium in every in-state competition. Along the way, she set PR's of 11.94 seconds for 100m and 24.19 for 200m at Chandler Rotary, taking 3rd in both. After Arcadia she continued to dominate each of her events taking 1st across the boardLike her teammate Tyrees Moulton, Jadyn wasn't afraid to try her hand at other events, such as the Long Jump (for which she's ranked #2 in AZ) and even the 300 Hurdles in which she ran 44.89 to win the event at the Rattler Booster Invite. At State, she collected victories in the Long Jump, the 100 meters, the 200 meters, and she anchored 4x4 Relay team to a State Title.

Honorable mentions:

  • Anaya Bailey (Chandler, Sr.) - This season, Anaya was ranked #1 in Arizona for the 100 and 200 meter dashes. She also anchored the 4x100 and the 4x400 Relay (AZ #1 All-Time) Teams to State Titles.

  • Alena Ellsworth (Highland, Sr.) - At the Sun Angel Classic, Alena blasted a lifetime best and Arizona leading time of 54.68 seconds for 400 meters. She also ran an AZ #3 time of 2:11.29 for 800 and broke 25 seconds for 200 meters.

  • Lauren Miller (Buena) - Lauren ran an AZ #4 for the 200 meter dash at Arcadia. Then at the Division 2 State Championships she finished 3rd for 100m and 200m.
  • Morgan Parzych (Hamilton) - Earlier this season, Morgan took 1st in the 400 meters at the Chandler Rotary Invitational. She ended her season as a State Champion in the 400 for Division 1.
