School: Desert Vista
Grade: Senior
Haley Wolf stepped up her game in 2017 beginning with two major 3200 meter victories in the spring, first at Chandler Rotary and then at State. In September, she opened the cross-country season with a win at Desert Solstice. She ran a season leader of 16:12 for 3-miles at the Woodbride Classic and finally capped off her Senior season with a D1 cross-country State Title at Cave Creek. After two State Titles and stellar performances in elite fields, Wolf can be confident about competing at the highest levels. She's recently committed to run for Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon.

Where are you from and when did you begin running?
I was born in Phoenix, Arizona and began running in 6th grade for my middle school's cross country and track team.
Have you participated in other sports?
Yes, I played soccer for 6 years up until high school.
What is your favorite workout?
I love all types of workouts on the track. My favorite is probably 1200m repeats.
Do you like to listen to music before races? If so, what's on your playlist?
Yes, I love listening to music because it helps me focus before races. I especially love listening to oldies and classical.
What kind of confidence did your 16:12 performance at Woodbridge give you?
That performance gave me a huge confidence boost moving into the rest of the season. Up until this year, I never fully believed in myself or in what I could do, but now I have a completely different mindset and have been so excited to compete and push myself this season.

Do you engage in any cross-training outside of practice? (swimming, cycling, other etc.)
I have done some biking and slacklining but overall have not done a lot of cross training this season.
What's your favorite post-race meal?
My favorite post-race meal is a mango-orange smoothie.
Do you have any interests outside of running?
Outside of running, I enjoy playing piano and playing the cello with my school's orchestra. I also love animals and enjoy spending time with my goats, chickens, and dog.
If you could go on long run with any professional athlete who would it be?
I would love to go on a long run with Shalane Flanagan. She is an inspiring runner and I love her cookbooks. Have you set any goals for yourself as a Senior?
My goals are to stay focused and continue working hard to keep improving throughout the season!
Will you run any post season meets and if so which one(s)?
I will be running NXR hoping to qualify for NXN!
