Bryce Lamb -New Arizona State Record - US#1

It is sometimes difficult to watch everything that happens at a track meet but the roar from the crowd Wednesday evening at the Arizona State Meet made it apparent no one was not missing a thing as Chandler senior Bryce Lamb approached the triple jump.  As he stood at the end of the runway setting himself up for his final State Meet jump he clapped his hands over his head continuously......... the crowd joined in.  As Lamb took off down the runway the clapping continued until he landed the jump...........the crowd errupted........everyone knew it.........no one was sitting!  Bryce Lamb just broke the all time Arizona State Record in the triple jump by jumping 52-6.25 moving him from US #21 to US #1 bumping Hammed Suleman (Sr., Deer Valley HS, Calif) into second place.

While Lamb was waiting for the officials to verify the new State Record mark in the triple jump, Desert Vista junior Shaylah Simpson was clearing 12-9.75 in the Pole Vault for a new personal best and the State Championship.   Simpson also broke the Desert Vista High School record of 12-9.50 set by Jaci Perryman in 2005.  After winning the State Title Simpson tried for the Arizona State Record of 13-0.25 but didn't quite make it. Her new PR moves her up the national leader board to US#8.
