Schwartz Sweeps 100 & 200 At State In 10.07w, 20.41w

Anthony Schwartz was on fire all of the 2018 season with times of 10.13w, 10.16, 10.18 and 10.13 over the last two months. Each week, it seemed the Auburn signee was getting better and closer to that 10s barrier.  He continued to sizzle at the state meet where he kicked off the 100m with an all-conditions mark of 10.07s (2.5 m/s). To put that in perspective his time ties him as the 7th fastest performer (all-conditions) with Cameron Burrell, Noah Lyles, and Joseph Sheffield. Only Marvin Bracy, J-Mee Samuels, Jeff Demps , and Trayvon Bromell have faster marks.

Several hours later, Schwartz was back on the track to lead his nation leading 4x100m relay to victory. The American Heritage senior anchored the quartet which also included Patrick Surtain, Tyson Campbell, and Jaden McBurrows to an improved US#1 time of 40.14s, which ranks in the top 15 all-time.

After last year's disappointment of injuring his hamstring in the final of the 100m dash, Schwartz was determined to score as many points possible for his Patriots team. Back in business in the 200m, running away from the competition in a wind-aided 20.48s.

Despite having a hand in 30 points for his team, the Patriots finished second to Hallandale for the second consecutive year. Next up for the nation's number one sprinter, is the adidas Boost Boston Games where he finished runner-up last year. Schwartz was the 100m champion at New Balance Nationals and runner-up to Tyrese Cooper before finishing third at the USA Junior Championships in 2017 and will most likely compete in those events again.
