Honorable Mentions

Meghan Barney (Veritas Preparatory, Sr.) We caught up with Lori Musico, recently appointed Head Coach of the Veritas Prep Falcons, and she shared this about Meghan Barney. "She (Meghan) had a kidney transplant when she was five and last December her kidney failed, so she had to begin dialysis. She is still being treated with dialysis and is waiting for a new kidney. She does not want to miss her senior year of running so her plan is to participate with her team as much as her body will allow."
Other girls who could get close to or even place within the top-10 this fall, are returning sophomores Kaitlyn Cochran (Valley Christian) and Kierra Lumpkin (Bisbee). Cochran did not run track this year but placed 14th in the D4 Girls race for the VC Trojans at the cross-country State Championships last November, while Lumpkin ran 20:09.3 for 5km and competed in was a D4 State finalist in the 400m with a PR of 1:02.80, which could be enough to kick in the door to the sub-20 club this season.
