The Varsity races started with the White Varsity -- Girls A category which featured Griffins of Glendale Prep. Led by Ani Durell's 18:33 performance, Glendale Prep finished 17th in the White Varsity -- Girls A race.
In the White Varsity -- Girls B race, Woodlyn Smith (Coconino, Sr.) placed 9th in just over 18 minutes for 3-miles and led the Coconino Panthers to place 10th among teams, while Jadyn Herron-Jonap (Casteel, Fr.) was the low stick that pulled the Colts to 12th place.
In the White Varsity Boys B-race, Casteel sophomores Derek Baca and Dayton Carlson finished 1st and 2nd just two seconds apart. Daniel Kirkland and Kyle Shirley also clocked in under 16-minutes and with Graham Farnsworth to round out the scoring five with 24 points the Colts secured 1st place in their category on Friday night.
Mountain Ridge represented Arizona well in the Red Varsity B category with Hunter Krasa running 15:03 to place third in the boys' race and led his team to 15th place. In the final race of the night, Emily Simon (Sr.), Taylor Mollenhour (Sr.), Lizzie Simon (Sr.), and Leslie Simon (Sr.) finished within a minute of each other to clinch the victory in the Red Varsity Girls B race for the Lions.
