Five Endangered Records Of 2019: #1 Girls 800m

Currently Held By: Morgan Foster (Chandler, Sr.) - 2:07.06

Morgan Foster had one of the biggest breakout seasons, if not the biggest, we'd ever seen from a freshman in Arizona back in 2016. She ran five sub-2:20 performances progressively lowering her PRs and finished runner-up in the D1 Girls 800m run at the State Meet. However, it was during the post-season at the Portland Track Festival where she set an 800m State Record of 2:07.06 for Arizona girls, that she made it clear that she wasn't just satisfied with being a State contender. She was out to be a national caliber contender in the middle distances.
Over the past few seasons, Foster has dealt with injuries and setbacks that have left her down, but certainly not out. The most severe, was likely a rollover accident that left her with a concussion, partial amnesia, a collapsed lung, and a broken arm, and put her in the hospital for six days. Despite these challenges, she's run sub-2:10 multiple times over the course of her sophomore and junior track seasons.
According Chandler distance coach Matt Lincoln, "just being healthy is the key for her." Her training this season isn't too different though she did begin her workouts on the track earlier than before to gear up for races at Washington's Dempsey Indoor facility and at the Armory for the New Balance Grand Prix. "She can run 4:45 for a mile right now if the race goes out fast. We will be targeting Rotary, Arcadia, and the State meet, but more emphasis on late and post-season running this year, such as Prefontaine Classic, Brooks PR, and USA Junior Championships."
