Girls 300mH - Escobar Leads At Home
Last year, Ella Escobar (Liberty, So.) finished 2nd the D2 Girls' 300m Hurdles Final at the AIA State Championships. This year, she's dialing into the hurdles and developing raw speed to couple with her technique as a long hurdler. Recently, the super-sophomore has been training under the tutelage of All-Time Arizona great and Olympian Devon Allen.
At the Rattler Booster Invite, she placed 6th in the 200m, 2nd in the 100m, 4th in the 100m Hurdles, and handily won the 300m Hurdles by almost a second. For the second week in a row, Escobar ran the fastest Low Hurdles performance on Arizona soil. This week, she'll likely contend with Ma'Kayla Dickerson (Betty H. Fairfax, Sr.) for the no. 1 spot on the AZ ranking for the 300m Hurdles. This past weekend Dickerson ran 44.30 at "The Qualifier" in Covina, currently the fastest time of any Arizona girl for the Low Hurdles.
