"They are destroying the field here."

In 2019, there wasn't much else you could say about Paul Robeson's girls relay squad other than that ... they're destroying the field again

Once again, the New York sprint powerhouse scored impressive wins in both the 4x100 and 4x400 at the NYSPHSAA Division I Track and Field Championships at Middletown High School.

In the 4x100, behind nearly flawless hand-offs, the Eagles flew past the field in leg 1, extended that lead in leg 2, shattered the competition in leg 3, and then took it home in the final exchange, finishing in 46.41 seconds, a nearly 2-second win over second place Half Hollow Hills West.

The effort finished the season as a New York No. 1 and a top 50 time nationally (No. 46 overall).

Division I 4x400 Final

Later, sporting a different jersey this time -- in blue -- and racing in the final race of the day, the 4x400, the ladies of Paul Robeson continued their sprint assault, handing off two seconds ahead of its next competitor after the first 400 meter exchange.

A state team championship was on the line.

The Eagles were so fast, in fact, that the camera operator lost the team by its second exchange -- he continued to focus on the chase pack.

But don't be mistaken.

Paul Robeson's girls were flying, logging a 3:50.95 -- which was just two seconds shy of the team's qualifying performance the day previous in 3:48.51, which finished the 2019 outdoor campaign as a New York No. 1 time.

Those two relays ultimately gained major points for the Eagles, who would go on to defeat North Rockland in the team standsings, 30-22.
