Queen Creek Twilight Meet Preview

In its third year the Queen Creek Twilight Invitational has quickly become the biggest meet in the state of Arizona.  Over fifty teams will descend on the Toka Sticks Golf Course Friday evening as the first race kicks off at 4:30 PM.  Added to the program this year are the Men's and Women's Collegiate races, a Community Run and a high school Sweepstakes Race for the boys and the girls.

The added bonus of the meet is the night time racing, giving the runners a break from the intense heat so often plaguing athletes.

The top runners in the state will also be facing off in the sweepstakes races.  Jessica Tonn (Sr., Xavier College Prep) is the top runner entered in the girls Sweepstakes race but also watch for Rolonda Jumbo (So., Chinle), Sarah Fakler (Fr., Xavier College Prep), Kylee Kieser (Jr., Casa Grande), Christen Collins (Sr., Pinnacle) and Jenna Maack (Fr., Desert Vista).

The boys Sweepstakes Race should be extremely exciting as Brain Shrader (Sr., Sinagua), Steve Magnuson (Sr., Ironwood Ridge) and Sherod Hardt (Sr., Queen Creek) go head to head for the first time this year.

Also watch for Tuba City's dynamic duo of Ryan Yazzie and Billy Orman.  Jose Luis Munoz (Rio Rico), Tyler Bingham (Sr., Mesa Mountain View), Albert Kombe (Desert Vista) and Will Firth (Jr., Brophy) will also add to the excitement of the race.

The racing begins at 4:30
