Athlete of the Decade | Finals

Billy Orman and Jaide Stepter - AZ Athlete of the Decade Finalists

It's been a fun few weeks and after 64 of our best track and field athletes of the past decade (32 guys and 32 gals) we are down to our final 2. Billy Orman, distance legend from Tuba City, won his contest against the bodacious Brophy Bronco hurdler/sprinter, Robert Grant, by a 62.86% to 37.14% poll count. On the ladies' side, Jaide Stepter, CDO superstar, held off one of the younger contestants in our 64-athlete field, pole vaulter extraordinaire Taylor Starkey of Casteel by a final vote result of 56.24% to 43.76%.

Both contests had over 7,000 votes.

We are now down to our final poll, which will start tomorrow (Tuesday, July 1st).  Voting will close July 2nd at 10 pm.

Again, thank you to everyone who has participated and been part of this Athlete of the Decade voting. We know we'd all rather have been competing this spring, but we hope this little distraction brought you back a bit and we all got to remember how many amazing AZ track and field athletes we are fortunate to have in our state.
