Desert Classic Invitational

 

Desert Vista girls have a strong pole vaulting team and took 6 of the top 7 spots in the Pole Vault event winning spots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7.

Ashley Workman (Sr., Queen Creek) won two individual events, the 800 and 1600 meter runs and anchored the winning 4x400 meter relay (4:11.21).

 

Desert Vista girls won the team event with 198.75 points with Hamlton in 2nd in 106.50.  Desert Vista earned some big points from the girls pole vault team and also had wins in the 100 meter hurdles from Julia Kline (16.44); Sydnee Freeman (1:01.04) in the 400 meter dash;  Megan Neumyer in the triple jump (35-02.75) and the 4x100 meter relay (50.53).

 

Mesa Mountain View won the boys team event with 137.50 points over Desert Vista's 111 points.  Mesa Mt. View earned most of their points from their depth in several events but also had wins in the 4x800 meter relay (8:19.60); the 4x100 meter relay; the 400 meter dash with Justin Newman taking the win in 52.24; the 800 meter run with Spenser Frame winning in 1:59.69;  Ben Williams winning the 3200 meter run in 9:54.05; and the high jump with Braylen Uchytil jumping 6-06.

 

The race of the night had to be the boys 1600 meter run with Sherod Hardt (Sr., Queen Creek) winning the event over Brian Shrader (Sr., Sinagua).  The two elite runners with go at it again at the Chandler Rotary on March 27th.  See Article on race

Gatorade Invitational

 

PR's were difficult to achieve as athletes were battling the wind at Copper Canyon High School.  

Katie Penney (Xavier College Prep) had a great 800 in 2:18.59.  

Notre Dame Prep swept the first three spots in the 1600 meter run with Kristina Vanderhout taking 1st in 5:17.51; Julie Vanderhout finishing 2nd (5:29.65); and Marcela Cartledge in 3rd (5:31.06).

NPA Skydome Classic

Andrea Klimowski (Sr., Northland Prep) set a new meet record on her way to winning the 1600 meter run in a time of 5:45.44.  Klimowski doubled two hours later by winning the 800 meter run in 2:28.33.

 

Andrew Rudebusch (Sr., Northland Prep) place 3rd in the triple jump by jumping 40-05.

 

Sophomore Rolanda Jumbo (Chinle) won the 3200 in 11:36.80 and set a new meet record.

 

Tuba City's duo of junior Billy Ormand and senior Ryan Yazzie finished 1st and 2nd in the 1600 meter run.  Orman set a meet record in both the 1600 (4:33.89) and the 3200 (9:49.74) winning both events.  Yazzie finished the 1600 in 2nd place in 4:41.49 and later came back to win the 800 meter run in 2:05.34

Ted James Invitational

 

Tamara Pridgett (Rincon University) was up against the wind but was able to doubled in the 100 meter dash (13.10) and the 200 meter dash (27.36).

 

Zahira Jimenez (Nogales) also doubled in both the 1600 (5:40.36) and the 3200 (12:19.72).

 

Desert View Girls won the 4x100 (52:03) meter relay and the 4x400 meter relay (4:21.47).

 

On the boys side Emilio Pedraza (Rincon University) doubled in the 100 meter dash (11.84) and the 200 meter dash (23.56).

 

Cody Rosengarten (Tombstone) continues his winning streak winning the 1600 meter run (4:37.94) and the 3200 meter run (10:27.85).

 

The Rincon University boys won the the 4x100 meter relay (44.83) and the 4x400 meter relay (3:36.23).

 

Jose Rojas (Nogales) threw the Shot Put 48-01 feet and the Discus 139-05.5 for double wins.

 

Salpointe Catholic girls won the team event with 114 points over Nogales (94.50 pts) and the Flowing Wells boys won the team event with 111 points over Rincon University High School.
