North Phoenix Prep Edges Veritas in a Thrilling Finish as Hall Captures Division IV State Title
The Division IV Girls State Championship delivered one of the closest team battles of the entire AIA meet, with North Phoenix Prep edging Veritas Prep by just two points to claim the 2025 state title, 98-100. Their victory was powered by three top-15 finishers-Aslyn Lindsay (11th), Leah Morozowich (13th), and Elena Johnson (15th)-along with strong support from Serenity Duran and Serena Dupps to complete the scoring five.
Individually, BASIS Flagstaff senior Jasmine Hall dominated the race, pulling away early to win the state title in 19:45.40 over the 5K distance. Phoenix Country Day's Emerson Butler followed in second at 20:02.20, with Glendale Prep freshman Maycee Brady taking third in 20:14.90, showcasing the depth of young talent emerging in the division.
Veritas Prep, led by senior standout Rachel Barney (7th) and supported by tight scoring from Athena Skikos, Hazel Haggerty, Regan Rassas, and Maya Calvert, pushed the eventual champions to the limit. Phoenix Country Day finished third with 117 points, anchored by podium finisher Butler and consistent performances from Rachel Coviello, Elsa Termansen, and Adeline Ward.
