Key Arizona Athletes to Watch at the 2026 Arcadia Invite

At this year's Arcadia Invitational, Arizona is sending some of its best athletes to compete in Southern California. Check out some notable names you will need to follow this weekend from Arizona.

Nicole Ripperdan (Queencreek) 

Invite 400m | Invite 4x100m Relay

As Arizona's top 800m and 400m runner, Nicole Ripperdan has opted for the latter at her final Arcadia Invitational. Ripperdan has become an excellent 400m sprinter this year, improving her personal best to 54.53 and regularly running in the 55s at meets. Among some of the nation's best competition, Ripperdan will face freshman Aulani Gleason for the first time this season, making this a must-see for Arizona fans.   

Yohanes Van Meerten (Flagstaff) 

Invite 3200m 

Yohanes Van Meerten opened his season last week with a 1600m personal record of 4:13.3, which may indicate he's ready for a fast 3200m on Saturday. He'll be in the highly-regarded Arcadia Invite 3200m against the best in the nation, which he also faced at NXN and Brooks XC during the fall. 

North Canyon Girls 

Invite 4x200m Relay | Invite 4x100m Relay | Invite 4x400m Relay | Invite 100m Hurdles | Invite High Jump 

The Rattlers are bringing a great sprint squad to Arcadia, aiming to make an impact across the entire meet. Rebekah-Jhade Garrett will face a tough challenge against Bullis' (MD) Kassidy Hopkins, who ran the U.S. #2 time, 13.37 seconds, in the 100m hurdles last week. Lanaya McCloud is in the invite high jump up against not just the best in the nation, but some of Arizona's best jumpers. The Rattlers will also shine in the relays in the 4x100m, 4x200m, and 4x400m. 

Maddox Bonilla (Castelle) 

Seeded 800m 

After winning the Chandler Rotary 800m, Maddox Bonilla finds himself in a competitive seeded race at Arcadia with several 1:50 and 1:51 runners. This will be a great opportunity to lower his personal record and to challenge himself against some of the best in the nation. 

Ava Davis (Millennium)

Seeded 200m | Seeded 4x100m Relay | Seeded 4x200m Relay 

The 100m and 200m Chandler Rotary champ, Ava Davis, is featured in many of Arcadia's seeded races this weekend. Expect fireworks in the seeded 200m, where the sophomore could make a big statement and demonstrate why she's been the top in Arizona for 2026. 

Ryder Hall (Snowflake) 

Invite Long Jump | Invite Triple Jump 

March was an outstanding month for Ryder Hall, providing him with great momentum in the invite triple jump and long jump at Arcadia. His 23-11 in the long jump was his most impressive performance, which ranks him as U.S. #5. 

Malachi Joyner (Williams Field)

Invite Shot Put | Invite Discus 

The Arcadia Invitational is the perfect place for Malachi Joyner to show off his skills after joining the 60-foot shot put club last week. On Saturday, he'll be competing against a ton of 60-footers who may push him to strengthen his AZ #1 mark.  

Aulani Gleason (Mesquite) 

Invite 400m | Invite 4x400m Relay | Seeded 4x400m Relay

Arizona has been introduced to the rising star ninth grader, Aulani Gleason, and her debut on the national stage will be at the Arcadia Invitational on Saturday. She's entered in the competitive 400m and 4x400m relay with her team, Mesquite. 

Tatum Lee (Desert Vista) 

Invite Shot Put | Invite Discus 

Tatum Lee, Arizona's discus leader, will face her toughest competition of the year in the invitational discus and shot put at Arcadia. After finishing 3rd in the open discus at Arcadia, she aims to carry that success into the invitational discus.  

Mark Smith (Williams Field) 

Seeded 100m | Open 4x100m 

Mark Smith's season has been very consistent, running in the 10.5s twice this season in the 100m, which makes him ready for Arcadia. After winning the Chandler Rotary Invite 100m into a headwind, he'll be a strong contender to win the seeded 100m dash on Saturday.
