Last week at the Hal Anders Invitational, Maleeyah Wright lept to a personal best of 36-2.50 in the triple jump. This impressive jump moves the freshman into Arizona's top ten in the triple jump, continuing an amazing start to her high school career.
The Arcadia Invitational proved to be a successful meet for Brinley Sessions, who secured her best mark of the season during Saturday's open session. Sessions vaulted 11-3 to finish 4th overall, and ranked her at U.S. #8 this season in Arizona.
Emerson Butler | Phoenix Country Day | Frosh
On Tuesday, the Top of the Mountain meet produced an incredible 3200m between underclassmen, with Emerson Butler winning in 10:57.15. Freshmen Cassidy Long (10:58.19) and Sawyer Lemieux (11:16.12) finished second and third to round out a wonderful underclassmen top three. Butler and Long are now ranked AZ #5 and #6, making them serious contenders as May nears.
Last week has been stellar for Gavon Lombardi, with competition at the Arcadia Invitational and Top of the Mountain. First at the Aracdia Invite, he ran 48.96, demonstrating his astonishing consistency, with his fourth time this season running 48 seconds. Then at Top of the Mountain, he ran 22.06 in the 200m and a wind-legal personal record of 11.04 in the 100m. He currently leads sophomores in Arizona for the 400m and 200m.
This year keeps getting better for Jacob DeLaGarza after he ran a personal record of 1:54.97 in the 800m at the Arcadia Invitational. This is DeLaGarza's fourth time securing a personal record since starting this season with a PR of 1:59.96. This hot streak has moved DeLaGarza into Arizona's top fifteen rankings for the 800m.
At the Top of the Mountain, Jordin Duff secured two personal records in the 110m hurdles (15.28) and 300m hurdles (40.08). Duff's 40.08 time in the 300m hurdles is particularly impressive for a freshman, which ranks him U.S. #18 for freshmen.
