From the 800 meters all the way up to cross country, Comish has displayed impressive range throughout his high school career, establishing himself as one of the state's premier all around running talents.
He enters his final cross country season with an opportunity to put all of his tools together.
Comish is the top returning boy in AIA Division I, after finishing runner-up at last fall's state cross country championships in 15:55.9. His performance there also helped Red Mountain to an eighth-place team finish, giving both Comish and the Mountain Lions a strong foundation to build upon entering 2026.
After coming within one spot of an individual state championship last fall, Comish enters his senior campaign as one of the early favorites to contend for the Division I title.
After a 2026 spring track season that showcased some serious middle distance chops -- he won the state 1600 meter title in 4:12.94 and placed third in the 3200 meters in 9:12.70 -- Comish may be better equipped than ever to take home a state championship in cross.
His personal bests showcase just how versatile he is: 1:52.20 for 800 meters, 4:12.61 for the full mile and 9:12.70 for 3200 meters.
And Comish has already shown he has the strength to compete with Arizona's best over a cross country course. Throw in the speed that launched him to a state championship on the track, and the Red Mountain senior has the means for a special final season.
Red Mountain finished inside the top-10 in Division I last fall, and having one of the state's top runners leading the way gives the Mountain Lions an important low stick at the front of the field.
If Red Mountain can put the pieces together behind him, Comish could help the Mountain Lions make a jump up the state standings this November.
With a state runner-up finish already on his cross country resume, championship experience on the track, and the speed to compete in a variety of races, Comish has the tools to make a run into the postseason at Nike Cross Regionals (NXR), as well.
One year removed from finishing second at state, Comish enters 2026 faster, more experienced and as the top returning runner in Division I.
