What are your goals for the upcoming season:

To place well in the state meet and run consistently in the low 18 minute range.

How is your summer training going?   Your favorite workout?  What kind of summer mileage do you run?

My summer training went very well! My favorite workout is running through a wash, to Circle K and finishing the 5 ½ loop in a park. Our coaches and program do not stress heavy mileage but just solid base miles mixed in with speed work and shorter repetitions like 1 mile repeats. My mileage this summer was about 30 miles a week.

How long have you been running and how did you get started:

I started running for the first time my freshman year of high school. My mom and dad ran cross country in high school and encouraged me to just try it out and see if I liked it! I made the switch from swimming to cross country my freshman year.

Will you be competing out of State this season?  If so, when and where?

No, we will not be competing out of state this year but we will be competing in some fun races again like Los Mesquites, Holbrook Invitational, and of course the state meet in Phoenix.

What are your favorite courses and the toughest courses to run in State and out of State.

My favorite courses are my home course, and the Benson course because it takes your out into the middle of the desert and you are all alone! It is a good time for thinking. One of the toughest courses I have ever run is the Wilcox course because there is a massive mountain in the middle of it! Also, the Holbrook course is hard, but fun! Out of state, a hard course would be on Salt Spring Island in British Columbia, I ran as in individual in a road race and it was very exciting and new but also hilly.

So far in your high school career, what is your favorite cross country race or cross country memory?

My favorite race and memory was going with my team up to Holbrook and spending a weekend in the mountains with them and then racing in Holbrook.

When you are not running what do you like to do?

I love to play soccer, hike, play tennis, and spend time with my family and friends.

Do you cross train (lift, swim, bike etc)?

I cross train off-season and play soccer for my school. I also love to go swimming every once and a while and our team sometimes works with lightweight hand weights and we do reps.

Do you think you would like to run competitively after high school?

Yes! I am hoping to run in college, I have just not narrowed down any college choices yet.

What were your favorite Olympic sports and did they inspire you in any way?

I loved watching Lolo Jones in the 110 hurdles get back up after a devastating loss in Beijing and do so well, with so much heart this year.
