There's a little less variety in the top D4 girls' throws and for the past few years in it seems like there's been a top returning girl thrower among the D4 athletes ready to pick up the no. 1 spot and carry it all the way to the highest spot on the podium at the State Championships.
Akira Jones (St. David, Jr.) is the top returning girl thrower in Division IV for both the Shot Put and the Discus. She holds a lifetime best of 111-11 for the Girls Discus which ranks her 11th among all returning Discus throwers in Arizona.
In addition to Jones, her teammate Kyra Richardson (Jr.) is ranked 3rd among D4 returning girls for the Shot and 5th for the Discus. Richardson is also an accomplished Javelin thrower having placed 4th at the State Meet, last year. She's one of two returners who threw 100 ft. plus and between the two of them Richardson and Jones could pick up anywhere from around 30 to over 40 points for the St. David Tigers, at State in May.
Chloe Fraley (Valley Christian, Sr.) is the returning State Champion looking to defend her title in the D4 Girls Javelin. Her PR of 117-3 from last year's State championships has her ranked as the 6th in the State for the Javelin.
