Welcome to the 39th Annual Sun Angel Track Classic. The below information pertains to the high school sections of the Sun Angel Track Classic. High school sections will be conducted on Thursday, April 5, and Saturday, April 7, at ASUs Sun Angel Stadium on the ASU Tempe campus.

MEET FORMAT
Thursday will consist of a full-schedule, traditional invitational. Heats and flights will be seeded by times and entry marks. Reasonable minimum mark hog lines may be established in select field events to ensure quality competitive opportunities while promoting effective meet flow. Select running events will be qualifying rounds for a Saturday evening final during the Premiere Sun Angel Track Classic, which is the featured evening section. All other events (including all field events) will be concluded and awards distributed on Thursday evening. Start lists for Saturdays finals will also be distributed on Friday morning online, along with Saturday instructions. Saturdays individual event awards will be awarded after the conclusion of each event.

ADMISSION
Please see below for team/competitor entry details. Spectator entry will be $8 for a day pass for adults, $5 for ASU Faculty Staff, under 18, over 60 and military and $4 for groups of 15+.
Teams/competitors will enter in and out of the south gate and will be required to wear a wristband given in the packets at all time.
ENTRY INFORMATION
Please enter athletes at www.athletic.net (links will be made available on www.thesundevils.com on March 1). See Appendix A for athletic.net online entry instructions. Entries need to be entered via athletics.net NO LATER THAN 11:59pm on Thursday, March 29th, 2018 (NO EXCEPTIONS). There will be no day-of competition registration for the meet. There are no substitutes this year again. Scratches may occur until 5pm on Monday, April 2ND. All athletes scratched after 5pm on Monday, April 2nd, will be removed from all other events in the meet.
ENTRIES PER SCHOOL
Our goal is to continue to make the Sun Angel Track Classic a premiere meet for Arizona High School
Track and Field student-athletes. EACH SCHOOL IS ALLOWED TO SUBMIT SIX ENTIRES PER GENDER, PER EVENT. THIS DOES NOT GUARANTEE ENTRY INTO THE MEET; EXCEPT FOR
EACH SCHOOL IS GUARANTEED THE THEIR BEST ENTRY PER EVENT PER GENDER. BELOW IS
THE NUMBER OF ENTRIES WE WILL ACCEPT IN EACH EVENT TO MAKE SURE THE MEET IS RUN
IN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME AND STAYS COMPETITIVE FOR EACH EVENT. WE WILL POST
ONLINE AT THESUNDEVILS.COM TRACK AND FIELD WEBPAGE (HOME MEET INFORMATION) THE FINAL ACCEPTED ENTRIES BY SATURDAY, MARCH 31th @ 11:59PM. We will still be proactive to ensure a quality and efficient competitive opportunities by implementing a hog line minimum mark for measurement if necessary. Minimum mark standards for measurement may be used in the long jump, triple jump, shot put, and discus throw . In the pole vault and high jump, height progressions many start higher than in years past so the events are completed by the end of the running events. Each team will be allowed to enter one (1) relay team in each relay event.
Running heats will be run slowest to fastest. Lane assignments/flight assignments will be in team
packets and at packet pick-up for individual entries. TEAMS THAT FAILED TO PAY IN 2017 WILL
NOT HAVE 2018 ENTRIES ACCEPTED UNTIL PAYMENT IS RECEIVED FOR THEIR
PARTICIPATION IN THE 2017 SUN ANGEL TRACK CLASSIC. This must be done before the entry deadline of 11:59PM, March 29TH, 2018. If you are not sure if your payment was received please contact Kris Alexander at asutfxc@gmail.com to check your status of entry.
FIELD SIZE FOR EACH EVENT CONTESTED
The field sizes were implemented to ensure a timely and competitive competition for everyone on
Thursday. These field sizes were composed from understanding the workings of the past Sun Angel Track Classics. The field events are smaller in size because of the amount of time it takes to get the competitors through the competition.

ENTRY FEE
The entry fee will be $200 per gender per school. Teams are defined as 10 or more individuals representing the same school. Individual entries are $20 (individuals are welcome to register and compete at the event but must represent their school). Payment is due by Thursday, March 29th, 2018. SCRATCHES & SUBSITIUTIONS
The scratch deadline is 5pm on Monday, April 2nd. Substitutions will NOT be allowed. Therefore, make scratches before the scratch deadline to ensure full field sizes. Please email scratches to Kris Alexander at asutfxc@gmail.com.

PACKET PICK-UP
Packets will be available between 8:00am-1pm at the south entrance to Sun Angel Stadium (south end of the facility near the tennis facility) as teams arrive for the competition on Thursday, April 5th. If you cannot make this time please contact Kris Alexander (asutfxc@gmail.com) to arrange an alternative pick up time. Payment must have been received or exchanged to pick up packet. Packets will contain one copy of heat sheets, an entry fee receipt, competitor wristbands for each entered athlete, four coaching wristbands per gender, and two support staff wristbands per gender (team managers, trainers, etc.). Each packet will also include three coaching hospitality passes per gender. Instructions for event finals held on Saturday, April 7th, will also be included. Awards for Thursdays finals will be available at the conclusion of Thursdays scheduled events.
FACILITY
Sun Angel Stadium features a BRAND NEW Mondo FTX surface. There are nine lanes with juxtaposed color-schemes to distinguish relay exchange zones. All field event runways are also Mondo FTX surfaces. Dual discus and shot put rings are concrete; competition ring will be designated on day of competition. Dual competition zones will run simultaneously for the shot put, long jump, triple jump, high jump, and pole vault. Starting blocks, discus, and shot puts will be provided at the facility.

WARM-UP/STAGING AREA: Athletes are required to check-in to the staging area at the North end of the homestretch (Big White Tent) at least 15 min prior to the scheduled event start time. Hurdles and starting blocks will be available in the warm-up area. All running events will have a sweats off policy when leaving the staging area for competition. Field event flights will be escorted to the competition zones and will remain in the competition are until flight is complete before being escorted out of competition area. Field event athlete may bring their sweats into the competition zone. Only currently competing flights will be in the competition zone.
TRACK SHOES: Spikes must pass inspection prior to entry into the track facility; only 14 pyramid spikes (MF ATHLETICS ITEM # 6650-1/4) are allowed on the track and field event surfaces. ABSOLUTELY NO NEEDLES or CHRISTMAS TREES. The appropriate spikes will be available at check-in for $2.00 for 12 or $15 per bag of 100. Failure to adhere to the spike policy may result in disqualification from specific event and/or team removal from the competition. This policy is in place to protect the longevity of the track surface.
TEAM CAMPS: Please set up team camps on the east side of the track facility between the backstretch and Rural Rd. or between the tennis courts and the track facility on the south side of the track. No tents in the stands.
TRACK ACCESS: Track access will be limited to the athlete release point located next to the grandstands on the home straightaway. Athlete will be escorted to the release point for competition from the warm-up/staging area. There is no track access for non-competitors or athlete not preparing/finishing competition. All athletes will exit the competition to the southwest end after competing or escorted off after field event completion.
ATHLETE FLOW: Athletes will gain track access when released by the meet escort at the track access point. Upon completing a race, athletes will exit the facility to the south end of the home straightaway. Field event competitors will be escorted on and off to relevant competition areas. COACHING BOXES: Coaches will not be allowed onto the infield during competition. Coaching boxes will be designated at key points on the outside of the track facility and reserved for coaches with athletes competing in ongoing field events.
COACHING HOSPITALITY: Each school will receive three hospitality passes per gender for Sun Angel Coaching Hospitality. Refreshments will be set out at 12pm and 5pm and will remain while quantities last on a first-come, first-serve basis.
TRACK EVENTS
Lanes will be assigned for preliminaries in the 100, 200, 400 and hurdle races. Lane assignments will be available in online heat sheets as well as in team packets. Lane assignments for all events with a Saturday, April 8, final will have random lane assignments for preliminary/qualifying rounds. The nine fastest times will advance to the finals in all lane races with select finals on Saturday . The 800 and 3200 relay will be an ally start with a one-turn stagger. The 1600, 3200, and 3200 relays will be a waterfall start with random heat placement. The 1600 relay start will be lanes with a three-turn stagger.
PREMIERE SUN ANGEL CLASSIC APRIL 7th, 2018
Individuals qualifying for finals in the below events will have packets available at the packet pick-up table from 12:00pm 5:30pm on Saturday, April 7th. The table will be located at the south entrance (same location as packet pick-up on Thursday, April 5th). Each packet will contain wristbands for each athlete competing; four staff wristbands per gender qualified (i.e. four total if a male qualified, four if a female qualified...one school may get up to eight wristbands if both a male and female qualify). Saturday packets will also contain two coaching hospitality passes per gender qualified. Team scoring will rollover from the events completed on April 5th to combine with finalized results from April 7th to determine final team scores and standings. Saturday evening Top 3 finishers will receive a medal. Please keep team camps on the east side of the track facility during Saturdays events.

REFEREE
The track and field referees will be announced at a later date. A games committee for the competition will be in place at a later date for final decisions on all challenges. All challenges must be directed to the meet (track or field) referee according to NFHS rules.
UNIFORM POLICY
Please adhere to NFHS policy regarding uniforms. Uniform checks will be conducted at check-in within the staging/warm-up or at field event competition area prior to the start of each event.
ELECTRONICS IN COMPETITION ZONE
No electronic devices (cell phones, iPods, etc.) are permitted in the competition facility, which consists of the area inside of the track, the external shot put sector, and the warm-up/staging zones.
AWARDS
Sun Angel Classic awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each event.

MEDICAL/FIRST AID
Schools are responsible for trainers/injury response procedures. Two SEMSs will be on-site for medical emergencies. An ASU athletic trainer will be on-site to facilitate in medical emergencies. There will also be a severe emergency response protocol. School trainers will have a designated area for taping, ice, etc. Ice will be available, but schools will be responsible for athletes in all nonemergency situations. Water will be available at the conclusion of each event.

PARKING
Structure 7 (large parking structure in front of Sun Angel Stadium) will be for spectators only (fee required). Busses may drop off teams in Lot 59 at the south end of the track for entry. Bus parking will be located at the locations provided to the coaches on the bus map that was emailed to them in March. This may change due to construction on Sun Devil Stadium. Handicap and/or special needs parking will be available in Structure 7 as well.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS
From Loop202, exit on Rural Rd/Scottsdale Rd. Turn south toward the ASU Tempe campus. After crossing Tempe Town Lake, turn right (west) on Rio Salado Dr. Lot 59 will be on the south side of Rio Salado.

Athlete Registration will be locked on 3/29/2018 at 11:59 PM (Pacific)
Follow the 4 steps below to get started:
1. Sign up for a free coach account (if you do not have one)
Go to: www.athletic.net
Click on 'Log In' in the upper right-hand corner, and then click 'Sign Up' on the bottom of that screen.
Complete the signup wizard
After receiving the confirmation email, go on to #2
2. Add meets to your season calendar
Log In to Athletic.net
Navigate to your team home by clicking your name in the upper right hand corner to open the side menu, and then the home icon next to the appropriate team.
Click "Add a Meet" in your calendar box
Where it says "Meet ID:" enter 325481 and click Add Repeat this process for the rest of your season calendar.
(You can also add other meets, even if you don't know the Meet ID. Just select your state and click "Next >" instead of entering your meet ID.)
Verify that your calendar is correct. Click on a Meet, then the pencil icon to make corrections to a meet, or use the trash can icon to delete a meet.
3. Enter team roster
Open the side menu by clicking on your name.
Click on your team and then click Edit Athletes from the list of links for your team.
Add athletes to the roster manually, or upload your roster using the "Upload Athlete Roster" option
4. Register athletes for the 39th Sun Angel Track Classic
Locate 39th Sun Angel Track Classic on your team's main Track & Field page and click on the meet name.
Click "Register Athletes"
Click on an event name, or athlete name to begin registering
Choose the correct division to enter athlete in
Entries will be saved automatically. For meets that collect entry fees online, be sure to enter payment information if you want your entries to be accepted.
Use the "Add an Athlete" buttons to add athletes to your roster if needed.
You can freely use this meet registration feature of Athletic.net for all your meets. The host team can download them from the website for free.
