Desert Tune-Up Track & Field Invitational

General Information

Track Events: Preliminary heats of the 100m/110m high hurdles, 100m, and 200m are in the morning. Lane assignments for preliminary heats are random. Top 9 fastest times qualify for finals. Events without preliminary heats are seeded from slowest to fastest. One or two slower sections of the 1600M and 3200M for boys and girls are run in the morning. The fastest seeded competitors run in the afternoon. Heat and flight assignments will be posted on the meet website. Bull-pen and athlete check-in is located on the basketball court directly south of the bleachers. The infield is closed to all warm ups (except hurdle events). Warm ups can be done on the softball field directly east of the home bleachers. Field Events: Athletes competing in field events must check in at their events. (Only athletes in the current flight are allowed to be warming up on the runways or throwing sectors) The High Jump bar will be raised 3 for the first TWO heights, then 2 thereafter. The Pole Vault bar will be raised 9 for the first THREE heights, then 6 thereafter. Starting heights for HJ and PV will be announced at the Coaches Meeting. Shot Put and Discus will be seeded into flights. Competitors will each get FOUR ATTEMPTS. Long and Triple Jump will be seeded flights. Competitors will get FOUR ATTEMPTS. The Javelin competition will take place on the baseball field west of the stadium. Teams must provided their own Javelins. The Javelin will be seeded into flight depending on the number of entries. Competitors will each get THREE ATTEMPTS.

Entry Fee: $350 per school ($175 for Boys & $175 for Girls)

Late Fee: $50 payable the day of the meet if PO# or payment isnt received by the entry deadline, 6:00 pm, Monday, March 5th. Please communicate with the meet director in advance if there is problem.

Entries: All entries need to be made on athletic.net by Noon, Thursday, March 8th. Four entries are allowed for all events except the 800m/1600m/3200m where only three are permitted. Email the meet director if a fourth entry is warranted due to athletes performance.

Packet Pickup: Packets can be picked up at the finish line.

Admission: Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for Students with ID. Children 6 and under are free. AIA passes are accepted.

Parking: School Parking lot or Arthur Pack parking lot. See website for maps/directions.

Spikes: Use 14 or smaller spikes on the track. Track shoes may be checked in the bullpen.

Uniforms: All athletes must wear school-issued jerseys and shorts that conform to region, state, and national guidelines.

Electronics: No cell phones or any other electronic devices are permitted in the competition areas.

Trainer: A trainer and water for the athletes are on site.

Weigh-in: All implements will be weighed in beginning at 8:00am. A pole vaulter certification form needs to be filled out and turned in to the finish line.

Entrance: Track access is located just behind the start of the 100m dash on the southeast part of the track.

Awards: A championship trophy will be awarded to the top boys and girls team. A second place plaque will be awarded to the second place boys and girls team. Individual awards will be given first through fourth place.

Scoring: 8 Places...10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
