State Meet Highlights - Saturday Division 3

AIA Division 3 State Championships

Morgan Chilson (Sr., Payson) became a double State Champion after winning both the 100 and 200 meter dash. Chilson won the 100 dash in 12.56 with Briana Myers (Jr., Santa Rita) close behind in 12.66 and Malika Murphy (Sr, Estrella Foothills) in 3rd in 12.77. Morgan's time in the 200 dash was 25.81.

Cactus freshman Drianna Mustin also won two state titles with a win in the 400 meter dash in 58.24 and the 800 meter run in 2:17.47. Courtnee Oglesby (So., Youngker) was a close 2nd in the 400 dash in 58.98.

Megan Goettl (Fr., Mingus Union) won the 1600 meter run in 5:08.51 by taking the lead early in the race and holding until the finish. Mykala Seresun (Sr., Sedona Red Rock) stayed on Goettl's shoulder throughout the race and finished 2nd in 5:10.04.

Three teams broke 10 minutes in the 4x800 meter relay. Mingus Union won the event in 9:49.77 with Fountain Hills finishing 2nd in 9:51.11 and Sedona Red Rock 3rd in 9:56.55.

On the boys side, Tristan DaCosta (Sr., Higley) won three State Championship titles by winning the 100 meter dash in 10.76, the 200 meter dash in 21.81 and the 400 meter dash in 48.83.
