Name: Isaiah Oliver
High School: Brophy Prep
Signed with: University of Colorado

Colorado is a school better know for its distance running, what sealed the deal to sign there as a hurdler?

I actually signed with the University of Colorado for football. They have made it clear to me that I would be allowed to do both sports which was a very big deal to me when I was in the recruiting process. Although their track team is more distance focused I believe with the recruits that are coming in this year we will be creating a much better sprint/hurdle team as well.

Any unfinished business left at Brophy this spring?/What does it mean to you to chase Grant's old record?

I would definitely say there is some unfinished business left here for me to complete this season. First I am chasing state titles in both the 110h and 300h. Along with that I am very determined to break Robert Grant's state record of 36.24 and keep it within the Brophy family.

Have you talked to the CU staff about what you will specialize in?

I have spoken with the CU track coach a few times. With football being the first priority it seems like we will be specializing in the 110 hurdles and the 400 hurdles. With the rigorous football schedule it will be tough to accompany that with a decathlon training schedule as well.

What are your goals this spring? Any plans to try more decathlons while you are still in high school?

My goals for the decathlon are to go over 7,000 points. My plans right now are to compete in the Arcadia decathlon in April along with the state one in May. Possibly do the Great Southwest decathlon over the summer.
