What are your goals for the upcoming season:

My main goal is to finish the season strong. I am aiming to PR at the end of the season, rather than the beginning/middle. Aside from that,  I want to run for my teammates and continue to honor the process of training correctly.

How is your summer training going?   Your favorite workout?  What kind of summer mileage do you run?

Training this summer went very well! Despite the heat and humidity, the team and I were able to toughen up and run strong when we needed to, and also relax on certain days as well. My favorite workout is anything with long tempo running. Oddly enough, I enjoy mile repeats! This summer, we ran a lot of volume, but kept the runs controlled and didn’t push ourselves too hard.

How long have you been running and how did you get started:

I started running with my dad when I was in the sixth grade. After that, I joined the cross-country team at my middle school where I made many great friends and really started to enjoy running!

Which meets will you be running this year?

To start off the season, we will be running in the Sole Sports Invitational. We will also be running in the Desert Twilight XC Festival, along with a few meets in between! After that we will hopefully travel to the Mt. SAC Invitational.

What are your favorite and toughest courses to run in State and out of State?

I love the Desert Twilight XC Festival Invitational! Its fun because the course is fast and flat and the race takes place at night! Sophomore year, I ran in the Doug Conley Invitational. The rolling hills throughout the entire course make it one of toughest races in Arizona! Another tough course is at the Mt. SAC Invitational in California. The course consists of three different hills. One hill has switchbacks, another is short and steep, and the last is long with a somewhat gradual incline.

So far in your high school career, what is your favorite cross country race or cross country memory?

One of my favorite cross-country memories so far is the whole experience of cross-country camp. This year we got to spend a week at Lake Tahoe. We had a  fun time and everyone on the team really bonded and became like a family.

What do you look forward to the most this season?

This season, I am most looking forward to running hard and enjoying my last year of high school cross country with my teammates!

Out of all your running accomplishments so far, which stands out the most?

Last years race at Twilight, in regards to running accomplishments, stands out the most to me. I ran a PR and everyone on the team had great races as well! We really competed and worked as a team during that race.

When you are not running what do you like to do?

When I’m not running, I like to listen to music and drive around with my friends.

Do you cross train (lift, swim, bike etc)?

I cross train about twice a week, usually on the elliptical or stationary bike, so that I can get in a little more training while staying off my feet.

How have your coaches influenced you overall?

In the past three years, my coaches have taught me that training successfully does not necessarily mean running hard everyday. I have learned that training is a long process that involves much more than running!

Are you considering running after college?

I would love to run in college if I am lucky enough to get the opportunity!
