What are your goals for the upcoming season:

I would really like to improve my times from last year and help my team in as many big races as possible.

How is your summer training going?   Your favorite workout?  What kind of summer mileage do you run?

My summer training has been really strong so far; my favorite workouts are probably our recovery runs because it gives everyone a chance to relax and talk to each other! And I think on average I do about 45 miles a week.

How long have you been running and how did you get started:

I’ve been running for three years now. My dad got me started in club track in between sixth and seventh grade when I started getting injured too much in gymnastics. At first I didn’t like running at all but after a few months it got a lot better!

Which meets will you be running this year?

I’ll be running in Sole Sports, Twilight, Mt. Sac, and hopefully State and Nike Regionals!

What are your favorite and toughest courses to run in State and out of State?

My favorite course overall is Mt. Sac because even though it was hard, the hills broke it up and made it go by really fast; and I think the hardest is the State course at the Cave Creek Golf Course because of all the smaller hills!

So far in your high school career, what is your favorite cross country race or cross country memory?

My favorite memory is definitely walking around after Twilight last year. I was so happy and relieved that the race was over and everyone was in such a good mood so it was the perfect night.

What do you look forward to the most this season?

I’m really looking forward to getting the chance to run in more meets and buy t-shirts at all of the races!

I am also looking forward to traveling out of town for Mt. Sac and getting a chance to qualify for Nike Nationals.

Out of all your running accomplishments so far, which stands out the most?

I would probably say my biggest accomplishment was getting to run for Xavier in the State meet last year and scoring for the team.

When you are not running what do you like to do?

I really like seeing movies and just hanging around with my friends from the team and from school.

Do you cross train (lift, swim, bike etc)?

Cross training isn’t really a big part of my schedule although a few of the girls on the team did try to go to a Spin class last week; it was really painful so I don’t know if I’ll be going back anytime soon!

How have your coaches influenced you overall?

My coaches are the reason I’m still running. They are so supportive but also not afraid to tell me if I’m doing something wrong or if I have a bad attitude about a workout. Both Coach Vito and VanSickle keep me in line and make sure I’m doing everything I need to. I look up to them since they were/are both such great runners.

Shout-Outs?

Shout-Out to everyone on my team because I would not have motivation to finish the hard workouts without you all, and to Coach Higgins who is so positive and makes everyone smile even during the hardest runs.
