High School:

Perry High School

Year of Graduation:

2016

Best time in a 5K and a 3 Mile Race:

My best 5k time last year was 16:44 but recently I ran a 16:10 AZ Road Racers 5k.

What are your goals for the upcoming season:

To go well under 16 minutes and to finish in the top 10 at the state meet.

How is your summer training going?   Your favorite workout?  What kind of summer mileage do you run?

My summer training has been going great. I am getting about 40-45 miles a week. My favorite workout would have to be any kind of speed work, preferably repeats.

How long have you been running and how did you get started:

I started running when my mom was coaching at Higley when I was 3. I ran my first 5k when I was 5. I started my first real competitive track season when I joined the Arizona Cheetahs at age 9.

Which meets will you be running this year?

Sole Sports, Chandler Invite, Mt. Carmel, Twilight, Doug Conley for invites. Then our city, sectional, and state meets.

What are your favorite and toughest courses to run in State and out of State?

My favorite meet would have to be the State Championships. I like big meets and that’s the biggest of all in-state. None of the courses I ran last year were that insane but I am pretty sick of running at Tumbleweed Park.

So far in your high school career, what is your favorite cross country race or cross country memory?

My favorite race memory would be how I ran at the state meet; I really put myself out there with some top kids and had my best race of the year to finish 24th. My favorite memory would probably be the team trip to San Diego for the Mt. Carmel meet; we had a pretty good time hanging out on the beach.

What do you look forward to the most this season?

This season I look forward to running some competitive races, helping my team to a high finish at state and having a whole lot of fun while doing it.

Out of all your running accomplishments so far, which stands out the most?

Winning the Youth Outdoor National Championships in the 800 the summer of my 8th grade year. I went into the meet just hoping to place but I PR’d by 5 seconds and came from behind to win.

When you are not running what do you like to do?

When I am not running I like to hang out with my cat Pierre, he’s a cool cat. I also like to tweet so follow me @badecurks. I guess hanging out with my friends and listening to some cool music is fun, too.

Do you cross train (lift, swim, bike etc)?

I am getting shredded 4 days a week in the weight room.

How have your coaches influenced you overall?

My coaches have influenced me greatly, starting with Coach Ray at the AZ Cheetahs who taught me to love track workouts (especially while holding on to pool balls). And now the great coaches at Perry including; Coach Roberts, Anthony, Lowery, P, Junior, and Geyer, who are helping me get to the next level of my running career. Thank you, Coach Geyer, for upping the mileage in my life.
