What are your goals for the upcoming season:
My goal is to win state individually and as a team for division 3 this year.
How is your summer training going? Your favorite workout? What kind of summer mileage do you run?
I ran over 240 miles this summer to complete the “run to Rocky Point” challenge set by my coach. My favorite workouts are the long, slow runs so I can run with my teammates.
How long have you been running and how did you get started:
I’ve been playing sports for as long as I can remember so running wasn’t something new to me. I ran and was successful in some 5K races with my family when I was really young, and so I figured I would try running high school cross country.
Which meets will you be running this year?
Sole Sports Invitational, Woodbridge Classic in California, Doug Conley, Desert Twilight, and our very own Fountain Hills Invitational, to name a few.
What are your favorite and toughest courses to run in State and out of State?
My favorite course is the Sectional race because it’s so flat. My toughest course would have to be the State Meet course or my Fountain Hills Fountain Park course because it’s so hilly and I’ve ran it a hundred times for training.
So far in your high school career, what is your favorite cross country race or cross country memory?
My favorite cross country memory was the meet in California last year. Everyone PR’d in the race and we went to Disneyland and the beach with the whole team.
What do you look forward to the most this season?
I’m definitely looking forward to the California trip round two, but also improving my time and all the big races we have this year.
Out of all your running accomplishments so far, which stands out the most?
To me, the first place finish in the California Invitational was the best, but my runner-up finish in State probably stands out the most.
When you are not running what do you like to do?
I also play club soccer, high school basketball, and sand volleyball. But when I’m not playing sports at all, I like to hang out with my friends or go swimming.
Do you cross train (lift, swim, bike etc)?
Yes, I will swim laps instead of running if I’m really sore.
How have your coaches influenced you overall?
My coaches push me to be better and are a huge influence on me. They keep running fun and are always supporting me and finding more races and opportunities for me to run.
