What are your goals for the upcoming season:

I have many goals for this upcoming season. As always my number one goal is to be the most motivational and positive leader I can be for my teammates. My personal goal however is to run a 17:45 by the end of the season.

How is your summer training going?   Your favorite workout?  What kind of summer mileage do you run?

My summer training went extremely well. My mileage averaged between 50- 60 miles per week. My favorite workout would have to be a 4 mile tempo run through the forest we did up in Greer during cross country camp.

How long have you been running and how did you get started:

I started in 7th grade when my P.E teacher made our class run the mile. After that I fell in love with running and asked my parents if I could join a club team. From there my parents did all of the work, motivating me wasn’t always an easy task.

Which meets will you be running this year?

This year I will be competing in the Desert Twilight Classic ,the Ojo Rojo and the Doug Conley , just to name a few!

What are your favorite and toughest courses to run in State and out of State?

My favorite course would be twilight because of the overall atmosphere of the race. Its just soooo fun! The toughest course would be skunk creek. The hills are unruly.  It smells awesome too! lol

So far in your high school career, what is your favorite cross country race or cross country memory?

My favorite memory would have to be last year at sectionals. I ran a very bad race, as did most of my teammates. None of us thought we were going to advance to state, but we made it despite our terrible performances. We were all willing do anything for each other after that experience. We definitely grew 10 times closer from it!

What do you look forward to the most this season?

This season I look forward to competing to the best of my ability and helping my team earn a top 5 finish at state.

Out of all your running accomplishments so far, which stands out the most?

My biggest accomplishment would be running an 11:08 2 mile at the state meet. About a month before I had run the best time of my life, an 11:16 at Arcadia Invitational. I didn’t think I’d be able to run any faster than that, but something just clicked that day, something I plan on unleashing for the rest of this cross country season.

When you are not running what do you like to do?

In my free time I like to hang out with my friends, spend time with my amazing little sister Tessa and go on outdoor adventures.

Do you cross train (lift, swim, bike etc)?

I lift 2-3 times a week and also do pool work 2 times per week.  Occasionally I ride a stationary bike and do yoga to help maintain flexibility.

How have your coaches influenced you overall?

My coaches have all set a very good example for me. Coach Selby has taught me to enjoy the time that I have in high school, but to also take it very seriously when I need to. Coach Krieg has taught me to leave my excuses at home, always be on time and most importantly give my all in whatever it is I am doing. Lastly my dad, Coach Estavillo, has shown me how to be a strong individual and to push through things I never thought I could get through.

Shout-Outs?

Thank you to the God for giving me the ability to run and uplift those around me. I would like to give a HUGE shout out to my amazing teammates Mariah Montoya and Taylor Brenden for being at every practice and being the best warriors I could have next to me on that line. Last but most definitely not least, shout out to Mama Susan for always supporting me and picking me up when I’ve been down( literally sometimes she cleans my wounds… I’m sort of a clutz when it comes to trail running).
