What are your goals for the upcoming season:
My goals for this season is keep improving my times, and become a leader for my team.
How is your summer training going? Your favorite workout? What kind of summer mileage do you run?
My summer training went well, my favorite workout would be any of the track workouts. I ran about 50 miles a week.
How long have you been running and how did you get started:
I have been running since my freshman year, when my brother encouraged me to go out for cross country. I loved it and have been running ever since.
Which meets will you be running this year?
I am very excited about our meet schedule, we will be running in the usual Arizona meets and will be going to Woodbridge in California.
What are your favorite and toughest courses to run in State and out of State?
My favorite course in state would have to be twilight, it’s such a fast course, but it’s a blast. My favorite out of state meet would be Mt. SAC, I loved running there. The toughest course in state would have to be Doug Conley.
So far in your high school career, what is your favorite cross country race or cross country memory?
My favorite memory so far would have to be camp; we become a lot closer as a team and as a family.
What do you look forward to the most this season?
I look forward to competing and dropping my times. Also, spending a lot more time with my teammates.
Out of all your running accomplishments so far, which stands out the most?
Out of my running accomplishments one that stands out is being one of the top three freshmen that ran at the state meet.
When you are not running what do you like to do?
I like to be with my friends and family.
Do you cross train (lift, swim, bike etc)?
I swim and bike 2 to 3 times a week.
How have your coaches influenced you overall?
Coach C my previous cross country coach has taught me mental toughness, and has helped me in the weight room. I am glad that he is still a part of my training. My new coach, Coach Messer, has taught me how to train a lot smarter and race harder.
Shout-Outs?
I’d like to give a shout out to my teammates, they are great supporters and I am excited to see what we do this season. Oh and my brother Zach Smith he has been a great supporter of my running and has helped me a lot.
