2012 Elite Race Start
The Doug Conley Invitational is at it's largest participation since moving to the Rolling Hills Golf course. This year the meet is wedged between the Ojo Rojo/Four Corners/Woodbridge Invitationals (all last weekend) and the Twilight Invitational (next Friday) where many of the top teams in the state were racing.
Last weekend at the Four Corners Invitational the boys from Page HS held back and ran as a group but plan to "bring it" at the Doug Conley Meet.
The Desert Vista boys were at the Woodbridge Invitational in California on a very fast and flat course. They will also be at the Twilight Invite next week and could hold out a few of their top runners tomorrow. Corona del Sol will most likely run their top runners but they probably ran more conservatively last week at the Ojo Rojo in preparation for tomorrows race.
The same is true of a couple of girls teams. In past years Xavier College Prep held out their top girls at Doug Conley, however, their second team usually ended up in the top two. The Desert Vista girls team may be running their second team as well as they just returned from California last Sunday and will be racing at Twilight next Friday.
Whatever happens tomorrow it will be a great day with some great racing - especially in the boys eilite race - and then we will all get to watch it again next Friday at the Twilight Invitational.
